Samba4 RC5 BIND9 and DHCP
I'm attempting to get a recent build of S4 rc5 + Bind9 + ISC DHCP server running. I've got everything pretty much set up, have attempted to implement a modified version of the script from here: http://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/ but I keep getting a "TKEY is unacceptable" error. I've even attempted to

BIND9 failing
I am working towards joining my second DC to the first. If I am understanding: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory correctly I am to get bind9 working properly before the join should happen. I am getting this: > root at dc2:~# systemctl status bind9 > > ? bind9.service - BIND Domain Name Server > > Loaded: loaded

migrate from win2012srv to samba 4.1.17-Sernet-Debian-9.wheezy
I just go down in the script and found an acl called "thisserverip" with value SETIPPDC1. And this variable is used for this line : listen-on port 53 {"thisserverip", 127.0.0.1; ]; Is it not strange that the pdc1 windows server Ip is coming here? Thanks. Issues with bind9 dlz
Hi Rowland, Thank you. I think the 5 zones maybe a parsing issues somewhere. Also, the realms are in capital, must have been a typo. The UFW has been disabled and selinux is in a disbaled state /etc/bind/named.conf.options has options { directory "/var/cache/bind"; // If there is a firewall between you and nameservers you want // to talk to, you may need to

dns.keytab for Samba4 and Bind9
Hi, When provisioning a new domain, samba4 creates /usr/local/samba/private/dns.keytab. What's the best way to create that file manually, when not provisioning a new domain? My use case is how one migrates from a Windows AD+DNS to samba4+bind9. I begin by joining a new samba4 instance as a DC to an existing Windows domain (so no "/source4/setup/provision"), then getting rid of the

Bind9 issue
Yesterday I had an issue with Samba v 4.13.0. Went to backup and discovered backup computer has a drive failure and backup is gone. Only resort is to rebuild the DC. I cannot figure out why bind9 will not "host -t SRV _ldap._ tcp.ad.dtntwk.work." or "host -t SRV _kerberos._udp.ad.dtntwk.work." root at dc1:~# host -t SRV _ldap._tcp.subdom.example.com. >

Hello Rolawnd, I followed the wikipage exactly. Bind9 is installed on the Samba DC. The Linux-Client should be a member of the Active Directory-domain? how to allow ISC dhcpd to add/update entries to bind9 with bind_dlz (samba4)
Hello all, I have set up a samba4 server with bind9 and the bind_dlz module. Everything is working as it should but now I need to allow the dhcp server to add entries to the forwarding zone. Has anybody implemented such a configuration ? Can this be done with the kerberos DNS dynamic update configuration. I want to achieve the following: 1) allow non-Windows machines (printers, ILO ...) to be

Samba4, bind9 and apparmor on Ubuntu
Samba4 latest git, Ubuntu 11.10, bind9.9.0 Hi I have dynamic updates working but I've had to tweak apparmor: sudo aa-complain /etc/aparmor.d/usr.sbin.named This floods the logs with allow messages. I can remove this by: /etc/init.d/apparmor teardown Not ideal. Can I have bind9, s4 and apparmor at the same time? Thanks, Steve

sernet samba4 on Ubuntu
I looked at these once, Rowland. I am a novice and not wanting to run bind9 for the dns (one ADDC and three, maybe four clients) the SAMBA_INTERNAL DNS has always work fine for me in testing. These scripts were a "little too advanced" for my experience. (Not that it won't serve anyone else quite well.) Just surprised that there is so little, almost non-existent documentation for
