Samba 4.7.1 Generating Core Dumps
Hi, We are having issues with our samba server running on CentOS 7. It's generating core dumps and dumping them in the / (root filesystem) directory in the form of core.##### where the # is a series of numbers. Snippets of log files and some troubleshooting commands are below. Hope someone can have a look and see if I should file this as a bug, as there were similar posts in the samba

Signal 11 in smbd 3.0.2rc2 on printer operation!
Our computers in our office ceased being able to print to a shared cups printer today. Could not find the cause. Seems the smbd processes are dying. Below is the stack trace produced by gdb bt full. Panic or segfault in Samba 3.6.1 - Debian testing
Since upgrading to 3.6.1 in Debian testing, I receive a panic/segfault message with each print job. Printing succeeds and continues to work, but an email with the info below is sent each time. The system is standalone. Kernel is 3.1.0-1-686-pae, and the system is fully updated. testparm returns no errors. Does this mean anything to anyone? Dale [Thread debugging using libthread_db

smb_panic with 4.0.0rc2 on Debian Squeeze
Hi, I have successfully compiled and installed Samba 4.0.0rc2 on Debian Squeeze as described in the Wiki. In order to support Win XP and Win 7 clients, I have created GPOs for folders redirection. The problem I am facing is with random PANIC messages in the logs and logon/logoff/file access process gets hung on the client. Here are the logs: Oct 18 13:42:32 pdc smbd[27384]: [2012/10/18

Samba crash
Hi Amir, this is a known and fixed issue in Samba 3.6.6. It was known as Bug 9004 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9004 and has been fixed by o Andreas Schneider <asn at samba.org> * BUG 8944 and 8567: Don't lookup the system user in pdb. Do you need a patch for 3.6.1? As far as I know (I would need to test it) with this patch Samba logs that the configured guest user

Samba is still crashing
I have had a problem for a couple of weeks now. I get very regular crashes on two of my three Domain Controllers. I just updated to 4.1.0 and I am still getting the same problem. I have added panic action = /bin/sleep 99999 to my config. Here is a back trace for the crash. (gdb) bt #0 0x003c3424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb76fa363 in __waitpid_nocancel () at

[draft PATCH] whitelist support for refuse options
This adds support for whitelisting the acceptable options in the "refuse options" setting in rsyncd.conf. It introduces "!" as a special option string that refuses most options and interprets any following strings as patterns of options to allow. For example, to allow only verbose and archive: refuse options = ! verbose archive The "!" does't refuse no-iconv,

Help with Possible Bug in Samba 4.1.5 on Connection Close
I've got a CTDB 2.5.2 Samba 4.1.5 cluster where I'm seeing smbd processes using too much CPU after the client connection is closed. Doing a truss against the smbd processes shows nothing during this time, so no syscalls seem to be involved. I rebuilt with debug enabled and took stack traces from an offending process spaces about 1 minute apart. Can anyone from the team tell me if

[PATCH] Add --preserve-atime switch to rsync
In the past there have been discussions about adding a switch to rsync to preserve the atime on files being copied by rsync. I needed this function for a project I'm working on and decided to invent it. I've attached the diffs. Note that this has the limitations describe in previous emails, namely that preserving atime causes ctime to not be preserved. *** Patch follows *** ***

2.5.6: a number of minor issues
I just picked up rsync 2.5.6 and installed it. I haven't actually _used_ it for anything yet; this is entirely about a handful of minor issues I noticed while building it. You may care or you may not; for simplicity of language (to avoid many repeated "in case you care" and such), the text below is written assuming you care about them all. On a (32-bit) SPARC system, I noticed:

Problem with heaps of sleeping smb processes due to panic action
Hi! We're running Samba4 (Version 4.0.0beta4) and are experiencing problems with smb_panic actions which result in loads of sleep processes in the end taking down the entire machine. This problem did not exist in prior builds for us (upgraded from alpha17 to beta3 and then beta4). Are there any specific log extracts I can supply that can help someone pinpoint the problem? log.smbd seems to

Lock order violation and file lost
I will probably file a bug about this, but perhaps someone here will have some ideas. We have a problem with files being deleted instead of being saved when making changes in Microsoft Excel. The log shows an error of: 'Lock order violation'. This is with Samba 4.1.6 and happens on both Linux (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686) and Solaris 10. No such problem when running Samba 3.6.22. We have a setup

Hi, I thought I should share this unusual behaiviour of samba 4.1.11. All of a sudden while I tried to delete a Folder via samba on a share it crashed. Samba 4.1.11 smbd crashes regularly
Hi, I'm using a fresh install of samba 4.1.11 compiled from source on a fully patched Ubuntu 12.04 Server. Most Clients are Windows 7 and some are Windows XP. My logs get flooded (happend over 100 times in the last 12 hours) with internal errors and smbd dumps core. Has anyone else such a problem or knows how to fix it? 2014/08/12 07:27:50.280149, 0]
