Office Words 2013 Crash from time to time
Dear All,
I've been upgrade from 3.6.x to 4.1.x (Member server)
All Win 7 Pro 64.
While in 3.6.x there is no such report on the issue, just people complain
about the slowness
While in 4.1.x there are random report on this issue not everyone but more
to a particular person...
That seem to be happening from

And I've really no idea why or how.
Any suggestion to

Samba 4.1.11 member server (Files server) bugs
Dear All,
Anyone have any hints on bugs affecting samba 4.1.11 acting as a member
server?
I've some complain about Office 2013/365
They said that network share are not available and force to exit and
documentation recovery are not possible. (But as I can see the network are
still working fine...)
The same configuration on samba 3.6.x are working without problem.
Below are my configuration

Mandatory User Profile
Hi,
first of all: my name is uli... i'm from bavaria/germany and i'm working
with linux quite a long time (maybe 10 years).
Now my "problem":
my samba is setup with ldap-backend. my configuration with mandatory
profiles is working quite good. i created a Default User - Profile in my
netlogon-share (migrated from a windows-xp client). ntuser.dat has been
renamed to ntuser.man.

Strange: Repeatedly lose domain functionality
Hello All
Since several weeks, we face a very strange problem with a samba pdc and ldapsam.
It repeatedly seems to loose its pdc functionality. This brings very strange behaviours.
The server is then already accessable (shares and browsing works as expected),
but the windows machines cannot make a domain logon anymore (has then a priori no effect because
they use their cached password),

Multiple domains on the same subnet
I have asked Uncle Google to no avail, probibly asking the wrong question.
We are wanting to migrate from an Active Directory to a Samba Domain, I have
setup the samba domain and it seems to be working (from the local machine).
But this domain cannot be seen from any of the windows boxen. Is there
something I need to do to get the windows boxen to see this domain?
The AD Domain is EXAMPLE /

How to debug not working Roaming profiles on Samba 4 AD setup?

This does not sound like a surprise to me. ;-)

with ADUC or by creating an ldif file on the DC and then use ldbmodify to
add it.
Oh, yes, you're right, I had to do the same for the logon.cmd, I already

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello
I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000
and WindowsXP machines.
All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the
domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares
and print etc.
But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the
attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

Unable to load roaming profiles samba-4.3 FreeBSD
I am seeing these in smb.log and each time I do it appears that the
user in question is unable to retrieve their roaming profile. Does
anyone know what is going on and more importantly, how to cure it?

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hi,
I was thinking about bidirectional sync of sysvol and i've a question:
?What about DRBD?. You can create a disk partition in every node, create a
DRBD cluster and then mount that partition on sysvol folder. The
sincronization is bidirectional and in real time.
For now i've not tested this option, but i've plans to start some tests.
What is your opinion about this?
Greetings!!

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Dear Belle,
That produce the similar situation.
Thus I'm trying osync
And the result are much present according to my test case
And configuration are much streamline.
However, I'm not sure how it can work with 2 DC or more...
Thank You

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hello Min Wai Chan,

Can you explain more about,, the DC1 will remove any emptey directory on DC1.
tested it here, but that does not occure here.
i can create empty directories on DC1, and these are synced to DC2. empty or not.
?
?DC1 will overwrite any users/group change on DC2?
if setup correctly, your sysvol rights on DC1 and DC2 are the same..

Problem with Roaming Profiles
Hello all,
I'm using Samba 3.0.28-0.4.3 as PDC on a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SP1 (x86_64), integrated with a ldap base. I have setup roaming
profiles and things were working fine till yesterday when an user "lost"
his profile during logon. Here is a part of audit log:

PDC. Windows unable to save profile
Hi there,
I have Samba 3.0.24. I'm trying to setup it as PDC. All works fine,
but there is one problem. Windows saves profile only once after
reboot. Changing username doesn't help. The only way to save profile
again is to reboot Windows.
Here is my smb.conf:
[global]
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -m '%u'
delete user script = /usr/sbin/userdel -r '%u'

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hello all,
Just to ask have anyone try osync before?
https://github.com/deajan/osync
And would you think that this will fix our issue on
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/SysVol_Bidirectional_Replication
Where DC2 files or folder will be removed?
Thank You.

Samba on Debian: Sarge -> Etch = broken guest shares
I upgraded a server from Debian Sarge to Etch the other day. Today I
discovered a fairly major issue... All the shares I had set up for guest
access have stopped working. The shares are meant to be writable by me
and a few others, and read only for guest, but it's flat out refusing to
authenticate anyone using guest (or unknown users which should be
mapping to guest).
SMB.conf is below
