domain join failure - error during DRS repl ADD: No objectClass found
Hello, I am trying to join a third domain controller to an existing Samba 4 domain (sernet samba 4.2.1-17.el6.x86_64) and we're hitting a problem that looks like some bad replication data on certain objects. We get part way through replicating the tree and then it dies on a Sudo Rule object: [root at dc03 ~]# /usr/bin/samba-tool domain join EXAMPLE.COM DC -U Administrator

logline of account becoming NT_STATUS_ACCOUNT_LOCKED_OUT
Hi, I am trying to capture from the logs the moment that samba locks an account. (because of too many failed logon attempts) This is samba 4.7.2, with: > log level = 1 auth_audit:3 What we see in the logs is like this: > Auth: [LDAP,simple bind/TLS] user [(null)]\[cn=username,cn=users,dc=samba,dc=company,dc=com] at [Sat, 02 Dec 2017 15:13:45.102695 CET] with [Plaintext] status

Samba errors everyday at 00:00:00
Hello Rawland, Thank you for your reply. We manage other zones other than the ad zone. These zones are stored in our AD (ldap). To do this, we have set up the named-sdb service which listens on 127.0.0.2. Samba AD forwards all DNS requests that do not match the AD domain zone to named-sdb. The problem is that these log errors only occur at 00:00:00 every day. Best Regards,

Moving LDAP tree
Hi, I posted earlier to the samba-technical list, asking how to change the source to reflect my Windows 2003 setup, which apparently uses a different place to store DNS entries. But it's probably better to just move that part of the LDAP tree to where Samba expects it, so that's what I'm attempting now. (the original thread is at the end of this mail for reference) I would like to

James, I configured the account lockout policies by RSAT, GPEDIT.MSC. By GPEDIT.MSC I set the value = 10 attempts. Through the samba-tool, I used this command: # samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --account-lockout-threshold=11 INFO: Current debug levels: ... pm_process() returned Yes Module 'tombstone_reanimate' is disabled. Dear James, Thanks for the input. Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and lock the account (after changing, I wheeled a gpupdate / force), if you miss 3 times the account is locked. I changed smb.conf log level to 9. I tried to unlock the account using the samba-tool command line, but without success, because I can only unlock using the RSAT. I get these

Questions About Bind_DLZ
G'day Guys, Sorry for the delay. I've had the log level of samba at 5 for a while now. Nothing interesting seems to be coming from the samba log. Increasing the bind logs, to level 5, shows nothing different. I get the same two warnings: 09-Oct-2015 12:46:01.421 database: warning: samba_dlz: Ignoring duplicate zone 'samba4.scem.westernsydney.edu.au' from

Compiling issues latest samba4
Hey all, I'm having some difficulties compiling the latest samba4 from git. It all goes fine untill the linking. I've copy pasted the error i'm getting below. I've cleaned it, removed and redownloaded it, tried with both developer configure and normal configure and it all seems to get stuck on the same spot. Thanks for any pointers. [3516/3794] Linking

I am fairly sure Samba will ignore GP password policies, but if you set the policies with the samba tool command, then it should adhere to it, unless you are running across the bug I mentioned. You would see multiple badPwdCount increases for one bad password in the logs if you are experiencing that bug. -James Crouch On Aug 19, 2016 2:26 PM, "Ricardo Pardim Claus" <ricardo.claus at

Samba 4 "Services for UNIX"? [SOLVED]
To get the automount schema to work with the git checkout of samba 4 I had to modify the automount schema files and separate the attributes from the classes. I also discovered that it's required to have the ntSecurityDescriptor , instanceType, and objectCategory attributes. Without these it will crash whenever you try to browse... I did alot of stopping samba, tarring of /usr/local/samba and

Are you using the "samba-tool domain passwordsettings" command to set the lockout policy, or are you using group policy? -James Crouch On Aug 19, 2016 2:03 PM, "Ricardo Pardim Claus" <ricardo.claus at yahoo.com.br> wrote: > > > Dear James, > Thanks for the input. > > Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and > lock
