My sub-folder with Outlook work-around to date
Hi All,
Thanks to MJ for the suggestion as my only hope, and I have tested this
with Outlook 2016 and Thunderbird today - seamless creation of folders.
Now the mammoth task of converting customers with masses of mbox folders
to MailDir format using the on-line perl script: mb2md-3.20.pl
Works nicely and will be what gets us out of trouble. My only sadness is
that Outlook then has to be

sometimes it fails miserably and continually. I'm not sure how to
reproduce the issue everytime but it does happen every single day.
Looking for some help.

Hello,
Here is a Panic that happened while doing some testing with two servers
both running Dovecot v2.2.26 on CentOS 7.
These are test servers owning 32 accounts whose data were copied from
our production server.
What I've done is:
server01# doveadm force-resync -A '*'
server01# doveadm replicator replicate -f '*'
For 5 accounts I obtained the following crash:

"[CANNOT] Mailbox GUIDs are not permanent without index files" when trying to delete folder
Hello,
Dovecot 2.0.9 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.4 (Santiago)
location is set to :
mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u:INDEX=MEMORY
Index is set to memory due to permissions problems when using disk index.
Everything works, even rename folder, but when trying to delete folder, using any mail client, it fails with:

Problem with rc10
I just upgraded our test server from rc6 to rc10...
ISSUE #1
I noticed that we no longer are getting two "From_" lines. However, the
one that was good (had the original sender e-mail address) is now gone.
The one with "dovecot.deliver" remains.
I attempted to add "-d test" to the mailbox_command line in main.cf as follows:

dsync-local crashes due to assertion failures
Hi,
I have two servers that share nothing, running dovecot version 2.2.9.
The first server hosts the original mail base, which I want to sync
using dovecot to the second server. With some trial and error I managed
to get synchronisation running using tcp sockets. Now for some accounts
I see dsync-local crashing on the server that has the original mail base
(which is still the only of the two

My sub-folder with Outlook work-around to date
Thanks for the reply MJ.
Good to hear it works in MailDir format - might need to look at this.
To date I have only had this issue with Outlook and for me personally on
Fedora with Thunderbird, I tend to keep a heap of e-mail folders without
sub-foldering and have my own little Linux 'utopia' of annually
archiving folders etc using the Linux scripting environment, so I never

You can give mail location and home directory from userdb or passdb.
For userdb, return mail=something:~/something and for home use home=/path/to/home
For passdb, you can return userdb_mail and userdb_home

(userdb/ldap) Set home dovecot variable - How?
Dovecot version dovecot-1.0.rc14-7 (opensuse)
Postfix is using Dovecot LDA.
I'm getting this error message, and I guess it's going to be a problem on my next task, which is to set up sieve scripts.
Is there something wrong/contraditory on my config or I forgot something? I want:

/var/dovecot-tests/home/: home dir (users will not be

Corrupted mdbox on LMTP director delivery while user is logged in via IMAP
Hi,
we get errors about corrupted indexes and we are losing flags with mdbox on NFSv4:
Error: Recent flags state corrupted for mailbox
Error: Corrupted dbox file
Error: Corrupted transaction log file
It looks like a LMTP director problem. The user has IMAP IDLE connections
open and lmtp delivers to another host. This leads to nfs corruption problems.
The user is logged into mail04 and has some

Corrupted Indexes and File Permissions
Hello,
I'm using Dovecot to provide an IMAP service to a small number of
users and I'm seeing two recurring errors which look like they might
be related.
Environment:
o FreeBSD 5.2.1 / Postfix 2.0.18 / Dovecot 0.99.10.4
o Maildir mailboxes
Problem:
On logging in all the folders under the users mailbox are empty. This
has happened with both MS Outlook 2000 clients as well as

My sub-folder with Outlook work-around to date - update 201710091046
Hi Mike,
I haven't seen your messages come through the feed so something is not
working for your e-mail address there?
No I am not using Sieve - the server has a third party handling spam etc
so the Linux box is very basic SendMail, Dovecot and RoundCube setup
(along with my own procmail based web interface for e-mail forwarding
and away message responses).
I struggle on.

My sub-folder with Outlook work-around to date
Hi David,
I somehow remember that there is a way to get the mail_location from per-user-settings. I had this once when migrating from maildir to mdbox.
You might want to use Google and the mailing list archives for the details but in summary it went like this:
- set Dovecot to grab the mail_location from user-settings (I think we used MySQL db field - or check docs for auto:)
- have login

connecting postfix with dovecot trouble
Hello listmembers,
we have some trouble connecting postfix to dovecot.
after a lot of hours the transport and delivery is
working but dovecot can't get the correct user.
postmap -q some.user at domain.com ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap-aliases.cf first
returns: someuser
The mailbox someuser exists and i can login with this
user on imap and i can deliver directly using deliver -d
but on mail
