Samba 4 issues on FreeBSD 9
Hi, I have been experimenting with Samba 4 on FreeBSD 9 and after a lot of googling the core stuff is working (phew). However I have a few problems, I am trying to setup roaming profiles and the tutorials suggest creating the share and then using a windows client to set the ACLs on it, however to do that the user needs the SeDiskOperatorPrivilege priv, so I [midget 23:38] ~ >net rpc rights

Password syncing
Hi all, Does anyone have a working password syncing setup (where changing the password in Windows will change the unix password) with Samba 3.6? Samba 34 + LDAP = hang?
Hi, I tried updating Samba to 3.4 (from 3.3) as libsmbclient uses it and that pulls in talloc which conflicts with 3.3.. Unfortunately when I tried it, it hung when I tried to use the ldap passdb backend. I could not really get any useful debugging out of it :( The stack trace is junk (even after enabling max debug) and running with.. sudo /usr/local/sbin/smbd -d 10 -F -S Showed stuff but

gencache.tdb going missing
Hi everyone, I'm having an odd issue with a Samba install - it starts SIGABORTing complaining that gencache.tdb has gone missing.. ie [2007/08/09 12:52:50, 0] lib/util_tdb.c:tdb_log(662) tdb(/var/db/samba/gencache.tdb): tdb_reopen: open failed (No such file or directory) [2007/08/09 12:52:50, 0] smbd/server.c:open_sockets_smbd(572) tdb_reopen_all failed. MGE Comet EX 11 RT frequency display (cosmetic)
Hi everyone, We just got an MGE Comet EX 11 RT with extra battery (all 250kg of it..) and I have talked to it with NUT. One thing I see is the frequency.. input.frequency: 500 output.frequency: 500 It appears to be in tenths of a Hz vs Hz as I see on a Pulsar Extreme. I'm using NUT 2.0.3 on FreeBSD 6.1 Thanks. -- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software -

upslog patch
Hi, I have a system which monitors 2 UPSs, and it runs upslog twice. I had a problem with newsyslog rotating the log file because upslog keeps it open (arguably a bug IMO), but it also has no way of changing the PID file so newsyslog can't HUP it when log rotating. Attached is a patch which allows you to specify the argument for writepid() so you can differentiate them easily. -- Daniel

mge-shut lowbatt config param
Hi, We have been testing an MGE Pulsar M 3000 and found that the lowbatt doesn't appear to do much. You can see it in the output of upsc but battery.charge.low is still the default. Setting battery.charge.low with upsrw does seem to 'stick' though so I we can use that. Mostly I'm wondering what the driver param is for :) -- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer

UPS restart delay
Hi, I have an Eaton/MGE EX 11 RT UPS (uses the mge-shut driver) and while I was testing it I found that it would turn back on straight after power was restored. I had a look but I couldn't find a setting which would let me tell it to charge to (say) 50% before turning the load back on. Does anyone know if this is possible? A setting like this would provide some hysteresis for successive

syslinux and FreeBSD question
Hi, In April 2009 you posted on the syslinux list trying to get FreeBSD booting from it. Did you succeed? I didn't see a reply confirming it. Also, what version of FreeBSD were you using? Liebert ESP-II protocol
Hi, I saw your email here http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2005-October/000243.html about the Liebert UPS protocol and I was wondering if it actually got in the NUT tree? I had a look in the 2.2.2 tree but I can only find the closed contact stuff :( -- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing

MGE Pulsar EX over serial problem (FreeBSD)
We have several systems in remote locations and I have found that the ones in the US are having issues.. We are an Australian company and can't source a 110V UPS locally so we arrange to have one bought for the site when it's installed. It seems that in the US we are getting "Pulsar EX 1500" UPSs but locally we buy "Pulsar 1500". NUT seems to work find with the

Resetting replace battery status on Pulsar 1500
Hi, I have a FreeBSD 9.2 system with NUT 2.6.5 (installed via the ports tree) with an MGE Pulsar 1500 connected. A while ago it complained it needed the battery replaced and it was finally replaced last week, however I can't find out how to reset the flag in NUT. I've looked in upsc, upsrw and upscmd but none seem to have a suitable option. The UPS is connected via RS232 and upsc output

MGE Pulsar Extreme communication problems
Hi, I am trying to talk to an MGE Pulsar Extreme UPS over RS232 with the mge-shut driver but I'm having some problems. It appears to init OK but I can't, say, turn the outlets off, eg.. harrow:~>upsc mge@localhost battery.charge: 78 battery.charge.low: 20 battery.runtime: 05760 driver.name: mge-shut driver.parameter.port: /dev/cuad1 driver.version: 2.0.3 driver.version.internal: 0.65

USB comms dropout not detected
Hi, I have an MGE Ellipse 1000 connected to a FreeBSD 7.1 system and it works well except that if I yank the cable it doesn't detect a problem.. It seems to quite merrily read the old data (upsc reports the same values). There is nothing logged by NUT to indicate comms is lost (usbhid-ups is still running). In the attached log I yanked the able at the 28 second mark and plugged it back
