We have a total of 2 desktops upgraded to the recent Window 8.1. Neither is able to map the home share, which happens to be a DFS root, and of course cannot access DFS links. Errors we are seeing are "Server unable to perform requested operation" Or Using net use - system error 64 Or Using net use with ip addr in lieu of NetBIOS name -

Visual Source Save and samba
Is anyone out there running Microsoft's Visual Source Save with a samba share? We are doing so here and are encountering difficulties. The "working directory" is a samba share. It seems that VSS is not manipulating file permissions appropriately when items are checked in and out. User always has write access to the item. Is anyone using MS VSS successfully with samba and care to

We have 2 samba 3.0 servers currently configured: security = domain password server = SPHDC0 SPHDC1 where SPHDC0 is the primary domain controller, SPHDC1 is backup domain controller and neither of which runs in native mode. SUMMARY: Samba "unable to validate password" error
To sunmanagers and samba@lists readers: Thank you all so much for your help with the samba issue. Although the problem was not solved, your suggestions made it possible for us to narrow down the problem. We believe the problem are two office PCs that were recently configured with some new test software. All other PCs and user accounts work fine. I do need to upgrade samba to a newer version

Windows 8.1 64-bit printer sharing issue
Hello, We have setup a Samba 4.1.0 server that has worked great so far. We have a printer share that is set up so that our users access the printers around the office directly via a central location. It is setup so that the users' computers can get the driver directly from the print server. We use CUPS to manage the printers. It is deployed via GPO. It works great for Windows 7 32-bit and

dummy ethernet interfaces
I have a 32bit(PAE) CentOS5 machine running (stock CentOS) Xen. I've been using the kernel dummy ethernet driver to create interfaces on the host machine so that I can create internal networks for the guests and host to communicate with each other. The only issue I have with this is that the interface is not >=100MB, but is 10MB. Is there a way I can increase the speed of these

Accessing Windows file-system from Linux samba server
I don't understand Windows permissions under Samba. I am running an smb server under CentOS-5.4, and have a Windows XP Pro machine ("harriet") as a client. I have set up shares C and D on harriet corresponding to the 2 drives C: and D: on the machine, and I have asked that files should be shared. Now when I mount harriet:C I can see the top level folders, but cannot see Documents

Setting up BackupPC on CentOS-7
I am interested in understanding the thing with BackupPC. What does it have compared to basic rsync? - It has a webui Is it like a central backup server? if so, how it works with windows clients(if it is?) Just want to make sure.. I understood right. Why did you choose this over other software? Thanks, Eliezer On 20/09/2015 16:51, Timothy Murphy wrote: > I'd be interested in any

Setting up BackupPC on CentOS-7
I'd be interested in any corrections or comments on the following instructions (basically for myself): We assume that BackupPC has been installed: sudo yum install BackupPC 1. BackupPC must be run by the user backuppc. Accordingly the lines User apache Group apache in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf should be changed to User backuppc Group backuppc 2. The user backuppc must be able to

Correctly Setting New Seed
Could someone please suggest a method to store the current random seed. I'm having trouble understanding how to correctly use set.seed and .Random.seed. Specifically, I have the following code that crashes: set.seed(seed) for(i in 1:10){ print( runif(1)) } To get around this I need to split the number of iterations into chunks: set.seed(seed) for(i in 1:5){ print(runif(1))

[PATCH 3/3] v2v: windows: Use '*.inf' files to control how Windows drivers are installed.
Instead of trying to split and parse elements from virtio-win paths, use the '*.inf' files supplied with the drivers to control how Windows drivers are installed. The following emails best explain how this works: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-October/msg00352.html https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-November/msg00065.html Currently the product variant (eg.

Hi Fellow users I've just compiled latest libvirt and qemu, both from their respective official repositories. Libvirtd starts perfect, but when I try to start a domain using the virsh console, I get the following: virsh # start --domain win8.1 error: Failed to start domain win8.1 error: internal error: Failed to start QEMU binary /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 for probing: qemu-system-x86_64:
