Upgrading from old 4.1 sernet-samba AD to source release with AD
Hi guys, I have sernet-samba-client-4.1.21-11.el6.x86_64 with 5 DC's running in AD mode and I need to look at upgrading them to the latest source version of Samba with AD support. All servers are running Centos 6.x and the same Samba release. I see the Wiki mentions "Upgrade A DC and join it to the domain again" however I'm not sure in terms of upgrading how this process will

net command in sernet -samba 3.4 for RHEL
After upgrading a test machine to Sernet's 3.4 package, it looks like the "net" command is gone. This was definitely there in the redhat-supplied 3.0 build and I thought it was there in sernet's 3.3 build too. I installed all the rpm's - samba3-client, samba3-utils, samba3-cifsmount.... am I missing something? -- Adam Cohen / IT Manager Energy Biosciences Institute /

sssd-ad cannot be installed with sernet samba
As I have said: sssd-ad works fine with sernet packages on redhat based distros. Have you tried this? apt-get install sssd-ad samba-libs- Notice the - at the end Found here: http://serverfault.com/questions/250224/how-do-i-get-apt-get-to-ignore-some-dependencies After this, try to resolve the dependencies of the sssd-ad.so file as I have written. sernet samba4 on Ubuntu
Yes, it did install a bunch of packages from the sernet site. So far all the tests are failing. Seems that Sernet put samba under slightly different directories so I am struggling with testing. I was hoping there was some documentation on sernet site that I was having trouble finding, obviously not. Give me some time. It is just different again (from CentOS howto I had used in the past.) I

ERROR: Could not retrieve the actual domain, forest level and/or lowest DC function level!
Doing some basic sanity checks on our Samba4 setup (migrating off of a Win2000/Win2003 AD) and the following command is throwing an error. Not sure how to troubleshoot this as most other things seem to be working. # samba-tool domain level show ERROR: Could not retrieve the actual domain, forest level and/or lowest DC function level! ... SerNet - Samba 4.3 and ssh password logins
Hi everyone, I have a SerNet-Samba 4.3.6-10 AD which works fine. Now I try to implement a fileserver. It is a server with a lot of (old)-users, which have an Unix-Account. On this server are also users who should can login from the Internet over ssh. But now I'm running in trouble with the security of my fileserver. When I would install samba 4.3.6 on it and activate sernet-samba-client

[OT] CAT5 IP-capable rackmount KVM units?
Rather off-topic, but I'm looking for IP-based KVMs (~16 ports) that can handle both PS/2 and USB hookups on the server side. All of the answers over at Slashdot are a few years out of date and it looks like prices on KVM head units have dropped a bit over the years. Some of the older units only worked with Windows, Internet Explorer and ActiveX. Others like the ATEN KH1516i supposedly

sernet documentation
One of the Centos 7 arm developers built the sernet 4.2 for me to start testing. http://repo.shivaserv.fr/centos/7/shivaserv-sernet.repo and http://repo.shivaserv.fr/centos/7/sernet/armv7hl/ Since these were built on qemu, not requiring specific armv7 hardware, Perhaps at some point they can be adopted by Sernet. But for now, how to test.... I don't see any specific Sernet

Installing SerNet Debian Samba
I've got myself in a bit of a pickle trying to install the latest Samba 3.6.20-31 package from SerNet on a Debian Wheezy server. The installed Debian version of Samba was 3.6.6. It's an off-line test server, and I'm still getting to grips with Debian, so no harm done, but I'd like to know the proper procedure to install this software! What I've done is: Edited
