auth_policy in a non-authenticating proxy chain
Hi, I was looking into the new Authentication Policy feature: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Policy I had kinda hoped that I would be able to enfore this in a proxy running in front of several backends. This proxy does not authenticate. It use "nopassword". But I realize that the "succes" reported in the final authpolicy req. (command=report) is not what is

Multi-homed Samba 4 file server on Samba 4 AD domain - cross network authentication
Hi all, I have a question about a multi-homed Samba file server and interoperability with AD. It's a bit complicated, so please bear with me. I've been running Samba 4.11.6 as an AD server (two DCs) for a while (in RFC2307 mode) in a mixed Windows/Linux environment. I have a server running Proxmox (Debian) with Samba 4.9.5 and it is sharing my huge ZFS volume via Samba to Windows

public-key ?
Hi, I'm not a crypto expert, so after reading this interview with Bruce Schneier ( http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/324 ) I'm wondering if OpenSSH has the same problem he talks about, that is one public-key algorithm. Doesn't OpenSSH use RSA, DSA, and DH ? Also, is there any plan to include those new NSA standards based on ECC ?

Incompatibility Thunderbirds Auth Mech TLS-Certificate <-> Dovecot
Hello, it seems there there is an issue regarding "TLS-Certtificate" authentication in Thunderbird and Dovecot. Obviously client certificate is recognized by Dovecot: Apr 25 14:29:01 dovecot dovecot: imap-login: Valid certificate: /emailAddress=christian.felsing at example.net/CN=Christian Felsing (Test)/OU=CF Certificates/O=example.net/C=DE AFAIK Dovecot always requires IMAP login,

Suggestion: Split login_trusted_networks
Hi, For the upcoming 2.3 development, I'd like to re-suggest this: It seems the use of login_trusted_networks is overloaded. Example: * It's used for indicating which hosts you trust to provide XCLIENT remote IP's. (like a proxy) * It's used for indicating from which hosts you trust logins enough to disable auth penalty. (like in a webmail) Often these two uses cases have a

Multi-homed Samba 4 file server on Samba 4 AD domain - cross network authentication
Hi Rowland, Thank you very much, you were spot on. I had changed the Windows 7 client to LM compatibility level, and now that I reverted it back to 5 (use NTLMv2) it works. It was this registry key that made it start working: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "LmCompatibilityLevel"=dword:00000005 I was ignoring the old LM options and the "NTLMv1" in

[PATCH] xenstored: Fix processing of zero-length messages
When a message with zero length is sent to xenstore, the body of the message was not processed until the socket or ring had more data to read; this will cause deadlocks if the requestor is waiting on a response to continue. Tip: update dovecot MD5 password from PAM
It is a jolly bad idea to use the same password for both email and system access. On TLS+plaintext, if your passwords are slurped by a python script, all accounts are compromised. Congratulations, the NSA will love you. On the other side of the ocean, however, there are European states where you must disclose the fact, or go to jail. (I tried to protect dovecot passwords with bcrypt, but the
