Mandatory Server Signing with Windows 7
When I enable server signing in Samba (server signing = mandatory), I can still join a Window 7 machine to the domain but I am no longer able to log on into the domain using a domain user. Is this normal? I am using Samba 3.6.3 on Linux 12.04. Is there anything that needs to be configured on the Windows machine? Thanks, Ali

new user introduction, and a few questions
hi all My name is Kendell Clark, and I've just subscribed to this list. I thought I'd write this email to introduce myself, and ask a couple of questions about configuring samba. I'm a co developer of a linux distribution for the visually impaired and disabled called Sonar GNU linux, which you can learn more about at http://www.sonargnulinux.com. I've been struggling to come up

hi Ok, I've now got more info. Doing smbclient -L blackfang returns the following error. unknown name switch type dns. session setup failed. NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. This is frustrating. Isn't this supposed to work regardless of whether I have an account on the machine I'm trying to connect to? Hear's what I'm trying to do. I'm basically trying to configure samba, however I

Anybody got windows 10 working with our classic DC / need to migrate to samba4?
Just checking if anybody has Samba's classic DC functioning with Windows 10 domain member clients? In particular, I'm interested in any tests with git master or 4.2. I'm not talking about samba4 DCs (our AD DC), but with the NT4-like mode. The reason I ask is that I've got reports it doesn't work, and I've checked with Microsoft who basically say 'NT4 support ended

hi Not just yet. I've set up a windows 10 instance on my desktop to test with. It's not activated so I've got a month to test, will probably only keep it around a couple of days. How is windows doing this? When I go to connect to mellisa's computer which is running windows 7, even with the workgroup name changed from the default windows finds it and connects. I try the same

hi Basically I'm trying to come up with a default config file that will allow people to access their stuff that reside on windows computers, macs or linux computers from across the network. I know windows uses the "WORKGROUP" name by default unless you change it, but one thing I've noticed is that samba can't simply query windows for the info it needs, it has to be set

SS7 signaling/Softswitch
I'm confused a bit about the following and was hoping to get some answers on this group - What is exactly implied when we say asterisk can connect to a PSTN. Does it mean connecting to the PSTN via PRI/T1/E1? If yes, then I assume asterisk does not need to do any SS7 signaling and all it does (playing the role of a PBX) is to connect to a Class 5 Switch at the CO. Is this a correct statement?

Windows 7 and Samba
After researching win7 and samba issues we upgraded to 3.5.22. We still can not connect to shares on the RHEL 5.9 box. Odd thing is, when attempting to connect we never see anything in the logs, which makes me think its a networking issue. We've turned off the firewall on the win 7 box, but still nothing. We can ping the RHEL server from the Win 7 box. Any insights or suggestions would

hi Completely agree about windows. From what I'm hearing on this list there's no "default" file that will do what I want? If I'm understanding this right it's not how samba is configured so much as it is what the gui tools will let me do? I use the mate desktop, with the caja file manager and it's caja share extension. I've tried a few things, connecting to

Starting * with G729 licences
Hi all: I've just purchase some licences of G.729 codecs, and I like to bring up * using /etc/rc.d/init.d script. Does anyone knows how to start in the "old" way? Encoding an X86 format with long operands
Whoops - sorry for the confusion. n would be set in stone beforehand. I basically meant to indicate that we'd either be looking at a 32 bit or 64 bit system, ie 4 byte or 8 byte addresses. Samba 3 + Windows7
Hi! I?m installing samba 3.6.19 at debian wheezy server with PDC option, all the desktops over the lan, are Windows 7, I read over the internet the problem that DNS is incorrect and the desktop cannot join to domain, I?m facing this problem right now. I have applied the registry entries to the desktop as says in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Registry_changes_for_NT4-style_domains but the

Encoding an X86 format with long operands
Hi all. tl;dr: I would like to add a long x86 instruction which doesn't conform to any existing format that I know; I'm not sure where to start. I am attempting to add an instruction into X86, to be simulated in gem5. I've already added a simple, opcode-only instruction which I can successfully decode and run in gem5, so I am roughly familiar with .td files and how backends are built

Compiling a benchmark to IR (either from test-suite, or other benchmarks)
Hello all. I'm in need of a benchmark that can be compiled to IR or bytecode. I found the test-suite project (https://llvm.org/docs/TestSuiteMakefileGuide.html) and thought a benchmark in that project might work. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to actually compile any of the benchmarks to IR or bytecode. Using cmake and make I can compile them to binaries, but at no point do

hi Ok, this is odd. Samba now works. I went to smb://blackfang, samba prompted me for my user name and password, and then connected. There was an smbclient update, and that must've fixed it because before that it wouldn't work. My final question is printer sharing. Is it simple to set up printer sharing where a printer is installed on a windows machine and shared across the network and if
