Domain DFS on new share
Hi, I am trying to configure domain DFS (I think that's the correct term) as below, using the guide on the wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Distributed_File_System_(DFS)#Configure_domain-based_DFS_in_Samba I am aware that the wiki says that this doesn't quite work... however it feels to me that it's very close, nearly working, and I might be able to get it going (hopefully?!)

Domain DFS on new share
Hai, Did you configure mutual authentication and integrity for the new share? I suspect something related to this, since you posted : > \\mydomain\sysvol does work, as well as \\mydomain\netlogon. > But, there is some issue with any \\mydomain\newshare. Good info here : https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/askpfeplat/2015/02/22/guidance-on-deployment-of-ms15-011-and-ms15-014/

Domain DFS on new share
Hai, Hmm i did a good review on the subject. As far as i can tell, on samba dfs works but not with \\your.domain.tld Just tested this also on my 4.5.8 DC's and member servers. \\DC1\dfs \\DC2\dfs Etc. works fine. Reading again : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Distributed_File_System_(DFS) And my conclusion is, domain-based dfs does not work (yet) in samba. Greetz, Louis

Domain DFS on new share
Since past the beta-times of samba 4 (and it worked in former times!!) it never worked like this: \\yourdomain\share or \\yourdomain \dfs-share. The only thing working along witch your domain is: \\yourdomain\netlogon. I had another thread open on this case some times ago. many smbd processes when sync'ing sysvol
Hi there, I have three S4 servers running as AD DCs. In order to keep the sysvol share in sync I'm using crontab to run the following command: /usr/bin/rsync -PavAX --delete root@<masterPDC>:/var/lib/samba/sysvol/ /var/lib/samba/sysvol/ However everytime this command is run a couple of extra smbd processes are started on the <masterPDC> (between 2 and 5 processes) which never

Samba4 DFS Support
What's the status of DFS support in Samba4? Using Win7 and smbclient and Linux I'm getting generic error messages related to not being able to access the DFS. This similar config is working in Samba v. 3.5.6. I spent some time Googling and didn't find much. I did find one page that suggested Samba4 DFS support may be limited only to the sysvol and netlogon shares at this time.

DFS questions...
Hi Kees, Thanks once more. To be precise: - you are running this on DCs? - no links required as on the wiki page? - "vfs objects = dfs_samba4, acl_xattr, full_audit" - I don?t have that in my smb.conf. What part(s) of this are default, required, or special? Thanks, Joachim -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba <samba-bounces at lists.samba.org> Im Auftrag von Kees van

No, there are 2 ways of configuring it, the wiki has the symlink method, below is the other method. I don't like broken symlinks on my machines, therefore this is what I prefer. > - "vfs objects =

Support of NTFRS, SYSVOL replication and DFS-R
When does File Replication using NTFRS or DFS-R will be availabe? Does anybody already work on this item? Here would be some first documentation for this team in case it hasn't started yet: - NTFRS: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759297(v=ws.10).aspx - SYSVOL replication: http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/dd640019(v=ws.10).aspx - NTFRS migration to DFS-R:

SysVol replication (DFS-R)
Hi, For me this is the most important feature that we miss in Samba4 AD [1] . First, IMHO , I don't see mounting a rsync server as the most easy way but in that page have a crucial clue [2] which is just write GPO(s) in the master. But we need not forget [3] "To use a Sysvol Replication workaround, all domain controllers (DC) must use the same ID mappings for built-in users and

Samba DFS-Proxy . No PDF-Files can be opened
Dear all, I have to samba sernet 3.5.8 running on centos 5.5. One Samba (server)uses the dfs-proxy settings to point to the other sambas shares(ServerB): [test] Msdfs root=yes Msdfs proxy=\\ServerBs\share When the clients now connect to ServerA they are redirected to ServerB. Now every file-type can be opened expect PDF-files? Is this a feature or a bug :-)?! Greetings Daniel

I have been looking into DFS (no R) with Samba and found the page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Distributed_File_System_(DFS) and do have some questions: ?There is currently (July 2014) a discussion in the mailing list in which several users report great difficulties with domain-based DFS in samba 4, maybe related with the implementation of smb protocol version 3.? ? is this still true or has

Samba 4.0.9 running on centos 6.5 (64bit) share access issues
Hi, We are running Samba 4.0.9 running on centos 6.5 (64bit) with SecureLinux disabled. Having some share access issues, what are we missing to solve this puzzle? We are attempting to get the MSDFS share working. Until we can fix this we cannot continue. This is the Domain provision and dns, and reverse zone setup. samba4 & (domain) dfs
Hi all I'm trying to set up dfs for (among other things) profiles (i don't know if this is a good example, but that is out of the scope of my current question) I've been following these instructions: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/msdfs.html http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/samba-domain-dfs-samba-4-help-209347402.html as well as the hints given in the
