One user getting: "Primary group is 0 and contains 0 supplementary groups" on standalone server
Greetings, We are having some rights issues on Samba 3.6.18 running on Slackware64 14.0 (the official Slackware Package). One of our users is having access issues and I believe I have traced the problem to the following entry in the log.smbd: Primary group is 0 and contains 0 supplementary groups Issuing the groups command for this user returns the 8 Linux groups in which the user has

Using Samba 3.6.20 as stand-alone server
Greetings, Is it possible to use Samba 3.6.20 as a stand-alone server? We do not have any Windows servers, and we have no domain or AD. Our goal is to use Samba with the Linux (Unix) permissions and avoid using ACLs. Can this be done? If so, what lines in the smb.conf would control this? Thanks! Still no joy using "print command" with 3.0.30
Greetings once again, I am still having trouble with the "print command" option in 3.0.30. In our computer lab, we force CUPS to print the jobs on hold, using: print command = lp -H hold -d %p %s This worked well with the Slackware packages of Samba 3.0.28 and CUPS 1.1.23. When I upgraded Samba to 3.0.30, the jobs were no longer queued on hold, but printed immediately. To

Print Command not working in 3.0.30
Greetings, I'm having trouble with the "print command" setting in Samba 3.0.30. From what I can tell, the commands defined in the "print command" setting are never executed. Jobs sent the printers are process by CUPS, bypassing the defined print command. When the command: lp -H hold -d %p %s did not work, I created a script that copied the command line used to a

Primary group is 0 and contains 0 supplementary groups
Dear, I am having a problem configuring Samba 4 domain member. The main server works only as AD and the second one will be for file sharing. Looking at the logs I see errors like: "UNIX token of user 0 Primary group is 0 and contains 0 supplementary groups" Logs: https://pastebin.com/BR1W0X3E smb.conf: https://pastebin.com/B5Ve41KG Does anyone know what can it be? Thanks!

You could try the setting. ntlm auth = mschapv2-and-ntlmv2-only >From man smb.conf The available settings are: · ntlmv1-permitted (alias yes) - Allow NTLMv1 and above for all clients. · ntlmv2-only (alias no) - Do not allow NTLMv1 to be used, but permit NTLMv2. · mschapv2-and-ntlmv2-only - Only allow NTLMv1 when the client

Primary group is 0 and contains 0 supplementary groups
Hello! I thought this was a mistake, sorry. So I created the shared directories and defined which groups can access this directory and includes the users in the defined group. However, the user defined in the group cannot access the directory, gives access denied. Take a look at the settings, if you can give me a direction of where my error is. # smb.conf [SHARE] comment = SHARE path =

Rowland, thanks for listening. I am learning to use the list, this is the first time I use this feature, sorry for the inconvenience, I believe it is the last message that will be created as new. I changed my receive settings to be able to reply to messages individually. >From what you answered earlier, I have a main server with AD, running Samba 4, everything is configured and working. The

Hello, We have a rfs6000 wifi model controller from Extreme Network that has the ability to become a member of the AD. When we configure it according to Extreme support, the error "NT_STATUS_LOGIN_FAILURE" on the controller and in the samba logs shows the following errors. sieve filter not working
Hi, OK. I tried your suggestion. I modified the dovecot config file "10-logging.conf", like so: log_path = syslog and mail_debug = yes It appears that the logging goes to "/var/log/maillog", not "messages" as I expected. Restarting service dovecot produces info in the "maillog" file showing the restart: ... Jan 22 15:20:14 coe dovecot: imap: Server

create_local_nt_token_from_info3 not pulling supplementary UNIX groups
I'm trying to solve this issue I'm having where using 'valid users = +unixgroup' just plain doesn't work. I can't find any /documented/ reason why this is so, but nevertheless, it seems to be the case. This is with samba 3.6.18, but seems to exist in all of 3.6.x and most or all of 3.5.x and perhaps earlier as well (see bug #6681). From what I can tell, the underlying

primary GID based access for user in 16 supplementary groups
We observe a difference between a Windows 7 client and Windows 2003/XP client when accessing directories that should be accessible via the UNIX accounts primary group GID. Windows client refuses access. Ignoring for now why the two different client behaviours (either some subtle difference in the requests or the way the Samba reply is dealt with) the question is what should be the correct

Function reference
Hi. I'm looking for an R equivalent to something like function pointers in C/C++. I have a search procedure that evaluates the fitness of each point it reaches as it moves along, and decides where to move next based on its fitness evaluation. I want to be able to pass different fitness functions to this procedure. I am trying to find a good way to do this. I was thinking of passing in

Strange result in survey package: svyvar
Hi R users, I'm using the survey package to calculate summary statistics for a large health survey (the Demographic and Health Survey for Honduras, 2006), and when I try to calculate the variances for several variables, I get negative numbers. I thought it may be my data, so I ran the example on the help page: data(api) ## one-stage cluster sample dclus1<-svydesign(id=~dnum, weights=~pw,

simple questions about R (fwd)
OK, I am forwarding this to the r-help. In the original message I simply hit reply and I thought I send to ALL r-help list. (apparent not) also I recieved another piece of mail.....about the RNG in Splus 4.0 or later indicating it was modified and getting worse. I only have Splus 3.4 for HP. So I cannot try it. This makes the idea of using the pre-generated RN on CDROM more appealing.. Mai

Lines for plot (Sweave)
Dear List: I am generating a series of plots iteratively using Sweave. In short, a dataframe is subsetted row by row and variable graphics are created conditional on the data in each row. In this particular case, this code ends up generating 17,000 individual plots. In some cases, all student data (this is working with student achievement data) are available and my code below works very well in
