debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot
Version: 0.99.10.4-2
I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and
I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a
"mailboxes" polled mailbox.
This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox.
I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A
bug with dovecot or mutt?

Getting back into Dovecot 2.2.5
Hi there,
I'm prompted to get into running my own mail server again with Gmail
going bad.
However I found /usr/share/doc/dovecot/example-config/conf.d/ a little
scary, since I like to have my configs as minimalistic as possible, e.g.
http://dabase.com/blog/Minimal_squid3_proxy_configuration/
So far I have:

Logging in to a virtual users Maildir
Trying to set up a mailserver to run exim4, dovecot2, (clamav procmail
or similar not yet installed) on a virtual machine & access it from
various hosts mostly using Mutt. So far no attempt at encryption
although there are some pem files from a previous attempt & some
evidence from the mutt debug file they may be being used .
So far I have attempted to set up dovecot to by accessed by

Dovecot's brittle configuration syntax
Hi there,
Whilst trying to come up with a minimal configuration for Dovecot:
http://dabase.com/blog/Minimal_Dovecot/
I noticed the configuration syntax is a bit admin unfriendly. It's easy
to get an infamous Error code 89.
Is there any back story to the grammar or language this configuration is
in?
Kind regards,

getting all circular arrangements without accounting for order
New function below is a bit faster due to more efficent memory handling.
for-loop FTW!
directionless_circular_permutations2 <- function( n ) {
n1 <- n - 1L
v <- seq.int( n1 )
ix <- combinations( n1, 2L )
jx <- permutations( n-3L, n-3L )
jxrows <- nrow( jx )
jxoffsets <- seq.int( jxrows )
result <- matrix( n, nrow = factorial( n1 )/2L, ncol = n )

Crash on opening mailbox
Hi!
I'm currently experiencing a crash of dovecot 2.2.25 on Gentoo, upon opening
mailbox. The crash only triggers on opening inbox, other mailboxes seem to work
fine. It happens every time, and can be reproduced on request. I also briefly
tried 2.2.19, and it behaves the same.
The bug seems to be triggered by some mail, as I encountered it previously and
fixed by removing some spam. I

Help needed with plugin - Read Only access to IMAP mailbox

I have a requirement to have read-only to a mailbox. I have been researching through the wiki, the mailing list archives and
good old Google. There was a number of similar questions with no real definitive answer.

zlib plugin doesn't read concatenated .gz mailbox
Hi,
I've observed that dovecot doesn't displays all mails from compressed via
gzip mailbox (mbox). At the same time "mutt -f mailbox.gz" displays it
correctly with all messages.
I'm using archivemail to archive old mails. Internally it creates new
"gzip" archive with "expired" messages and then concatenates it with
archive.
The easiest way to reproduce

getting all circular arrangements without accounting for order
I don't know if this is more efficient than enumerating with distinct
directions and weeding... it seems kind of heavyweight to me:
#######
library(gtools)
directionless_circular_permutations <- function( n ) {
v <- seq.int( n-1 )
ix <- combinations( n-1, 2 )
jx <- permutations( n-3, n-3 )
x <- lapply( seq.int( nrow( ix ) )
, function( i ) {

getting all circular arrangements without accounting for order
Jeff,
I wanted to let you know that your function is faster than generating the directional circular permutations and weeding.
Here is the time for n = 10. I compared with just doing the permutations, there is no point in proceeding further with the weeding since it is slower at the start itself.
system.time(directionless_circular_permutations(10))

Multiple mailbox formats, per-user mailbox format support
Hello,
I have a setup where each user has different mailbox
formats (some use only /var/spool/mail/user) mailbox format,
some is stored in mbx format ~/INBOX or ~/mbox and
some is stored in maildir format in ~/Mail/
I currently use UW-IMAP to read /var/spool/mail/... and the mbx format
mailboxes in ~/INBOX and mutt to read ~/Mail/... (the maildirs in ~/Mail/
are created by procmail rules)

Why does dovecot confuse mutt?
Heylas,
I just switched my primary mail server from courier imap to dovecot (I've been waiting to do this; dovecot showed up in debian testing for alpha, at last). So, using the same set of maildirs, there are slightly different behaviors.
First, of course, dovecot displays the hierarchy as I thought it ought to be, such that INBOX is a sibling of all other top-level boxes, not the parent

Imap process crashes when search in virtual mailbox
Hi,
When searching in a virtual mailbox imap process crashes if the virtual
mailbox has a lot of physical mailboxes behind (more than 80 - 100
mailboxes).

Crash on opening mailbox
Hi!
dovecot -n and backtrace are both attached in my original email, due to their
size. Did the attachments not arrive?
The relevant log does not contain much more than the trace, but here it is:

Mailbox is locked?
Hello,
I recently upgraded from Dovecot 1.1.8 to 1.1.14, and I've started to
get errors I never got before. Specifically, I'm getting "Mailbox is
locked, will abort in xx seconds" errors. My mail client (mutt) will
just sit there in the background (presumably in IDLE) and randomly
will show this error (I THINK it has something to do with delivering
new messages to the

hang when starting X
Hi. I've been testing Fedora rawhide, since Fedora 9 will be coming out
soon. I tried running nouveau, and had a hang, so I thought I'd report
it here. I'm not sure whether or not this is helpful, but I figured it
can't hurt.
Anyway, when X started, it got far enough that the X cursor showed up in
the middle of the screen, but I was unable to get the cursor to move.
As far as I
