How to have 'o' == 'ö'
Greetings, (using acts_as_ferret) So I have a book title "M?ngrel ?Horsemen?" in my index. Searching for "M?ngrel" retrieves the document. But I would like searching for "Mongrel" to also retrieve the document. Which it does not currently. Anyone have any good solutions to this problem? I suppose I could filter the documents and queries first which something

Hai Ian, Can you run this one again on both servers and pm me both outputs. I'll have a good look. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh I've updated the file, so do use the new one. Hai, Thank you for having trust in my packages.. :-) Now if you use my package, i suggest, do read the howto's also... All you need for a good setup on debian stretch is there. if anyone find/see's improvements, please tell me... Or change it on github, thats why its there. First is this an upgraded domain? Or a new domain? What does `getent passwd username` tell you. Same for `id

winbind not returning uid/gid
Really sorry to re-post but it looks like my thread has been buried and had no responses. I am using samba3.6 winbind to connect a RHEL5.8 linux box to a new Windows Server 2012 Active Directory which has Unix Identity Mapping installed. So I have all the uidNumber/gidNumber stuff in the windows schema. I am able to log in but I am not getting the right uid/gid. My AD uids start at around 800.

Hi Louis, Thank you for the thread. Reading through it now. I also, this morning, realised that I forgot to include a very critical piece of information. I initially installed samba 4.5 from the debian repos, then got hit by this issue. I then purged samba and winbind, and did a apt autoremove --purge. Loaded your repo and reinstalled the needed packages. Don't know if this complicated

hi all, I can't figure out why winbind can't find ad users with wbinfo calls. Building Samba RPM packages for RHEL/CentOS 5 - Needed corrections to the .spec file
I just built from source the Samba 3.5.6 RPM packages for CentOS 5.x/RHEL5.x. I found some glitches in the included samba.spec file and I thought someone else might benefit from my recent experience. The spec file for RHEL/CentOS resides, on the sources tree, under "samba-3.5.6\packaging\RHEL\". 1 - The process initially fails due to a dependency problem: missing

printing permissions problem
Hello, I have a strange problem with cups and samba. I have a Windows ME computer trying to print to my linux box (SuSE 8.1). From what I can tell, the print job makes it to the server and lpr is run. However, lpr is run as nobody, and cups doesn't seem to like this, because when I su to nobody and try to run lpr, it asks for a password. How would I get cups to not require a password

Debian sarge release and dovecot
In what must surely be the first sign of the apocalypse, Debian is actually freezing in preperation for a new release. Probably the last day for uploads will be August 17. Is there likely to be another dovecot release by then? In the event of 0.99.10.9 being the released version, are there any other patches Debian users would like me to include? -- Jaldhar H. idmap_ad partially stopped working after upgrading Samba from 3.4.3 to 3.6.3
Dear list, upgrading from SLES11 SP1 to SLES11 SP2, I upgraded Samba from 3.4.3 to 3.6.3. I was successfully using idmap_ad to authenticate users but after the upgrade it stopped working and users are not seen by the OS. Obviously the users I want to see on the Linux server have all RFC2307 attributes populated and are seen by all other SLES11 SP1 servers. I checked everything (I know) from the

Winbind crashes in 3.026a using rid
Winbind 3.026a crashes when reading out user information with wbinfo using the idmap/rid module. The tdb module works without crash (tested by exchanging the uncommented and commented lines in the following fragment from smb.conf). I configured rid as follows: [global] # idmap uid=1000-60000 # idmap gid=1000-60000 idmap domains=TRUSTEDDOMAINS idmap config TRUSTEDDOMAINS:readonly=yes idmap

What happened with portaudit?
Hello, One of my machines I got a report about 3 vulnerable packages (php4, ruby, openssl) in tomorrows security run output, but in today's security run output all of them disappeared, but nobody upgraded or removed the affected packages. I reinstalled portaudit, refreshd its database, but now it reports 0 affected pakages. The pkg_info command lists that three packages, so they are
