recreate DomainDnsZones record
Hello, I have win2k3 single root domain with one winDC and one centos 6.4 samba 4.0.7 with internal DNS successfuly (asI thought) joined in. When both Dcs online everything works fine, but I'm confused with DNS zone replication. both dcs have record DC=mydomain.local,CN=MicrosoftDNS,dc=DomainDnsZones,dc=mydomain,dc=local with identical GUID an identical SOA record pointing to winDC as

DNS problems on windows AD
Hi, I have a domain composed by 3 linux samba 4 AD servers. I wanted to add a windows based domain controller on it and followed the documentation on the samba wiki. Everything works fine except the DNS: - when I try do add a dns record on the windows 2008r2 server, I got an error popup with "Refused" - in the DNS service logs at startup I got an error 4014: "The DNS server was

Samba AD with external DNS server
Hallo, We have Samba4 (Sernet, Version4.1) on a Debian Wheezy server. There we try to use our Infoblox (It is our primary and secondary DNS server) as an external DNS server for the active directory on the samba4 server. It doesn?t matter which setup option (Samba_internal, bind_dlz, none) we use it doesn?t work. Harry

dcpromo on W2k8 R2 server with existing Samba AD domin fails to complete
I’m attempting to stand up a Windows 2008 R2 server as a domain controller to integrate with an existing Samba AD environment with 6x Samba AD servers (4.10.1) and multiple sites. This is the first Windows DC. I have a couple other Win2012 servers that are already domain joined, and ~ 300 Win 10 desktop/laptop hosts I’ve followed the guide on the wiki:

Win2003 DC fails to detect Samba 4 DC
I have an (apparently) valid Samba4 DC to which I have transferred all FSMO roles in preparation for running dcpromo and demoting the Win DC. All of the logs look good on the Samba DC and showrepl indicates no errors. Unfortunately, the Win DC does not seem to detect the Samba DC when I attempt to run dcpromo and it throws a nasty warning about AD data being lost. If I run Sites and Services,

Win 2003 DC Demotion
All, I've posted a few times about this but without response so it seems that not many folks are trying to do this. So, before I spend many more hours on this trying to make it work, a simple yes or no question: Has anyone successfully demoted a Win 2003 PDC without error after joining a Samba 4.x DC to it? That's it. I'm primarily interested in "yes" responses but

Windows 2003 AD (2003 level) Replacement
It's been well over a year since I tried doing this and, at that time, it was not a simple install. File replication didn't seem to work, some accounts didn't show up in the new server, and the internal DNS seemed a bit problematic. The goal was to decommission a 2003 AD server (2003 level) and replace it with Samba4. Exchange 2000 exists in this domain but not much else. I have

Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings, The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So, I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment): First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a requirement. The

Cleanup CN=Deleted Objects, DC=DomainDnsZones, DC=domain, DC=local
Hi, Due to an not so well coded dns update script my /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/DC=DOMAINDNSZONES,DC=DOMAIN,DC=LOCAL.ldb db consumes now ~500MB. So i decided to delete all the Outdated records. I prepared an list of all the DN's with Base DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=domain,DC=local and Attribute isDeleted=TRUE. There are about 80000 outdated entries whom i plan to delete. If I loop over

Samba AD - "No logon servers available"
Hi guys, I've migrated from Samba NT4 to Samba AD, joined other Windows DC's to the domain and then demoted my Samba DC. I am not being able to login from client computers with the error stated on the subject. I've tried everything, from making sure replication is OK, client DNS configuration also. Registry modifications from prior Samba NT4 domain were reverted in the client. Are

Samba4 PDC to Samba4 DC works great, Win2003 PDC to Samba4 DC not so great
I've posted before about this but I'll add more info. I've set up two Samba DCs in a domain, using both 4.0.7 and 4.1RC1, and all works great including Forest and Domain DNS repl in both directions. When I add a Samba 4.0.7 or 4.1RC1 DC to an existing Win2003 PDC with Forest level of 2003, Forest and Domain DNS repl is only from PDC to DC, never in the other direction. I've
