mounting gfs partition hangs
Hi,
I have configured two machines for testing gfs filesystems. They are
attached to a iscsi device and centos versions are:
CentOS release 5.4 (Final)
Linux node1.fib.upc.es 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:33:56 EDT 2009
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
The problem is if I try to mount a gfs partition it hangs.

rquota didnot show userquota (Solaris 10)
Hi,
we have a new fileserver running on X4275 hardware with Solaris 10U8.
On this fileserver we created one test dir with quota and mounted these
on another Solaris 10 system. Here the quota command didnot show the
used quota. Does this feature only work with OpenSolaris or is it
intended to work on Solaris 10?
Here what we did on the server:
# zfs create -o mountpoint=/export/home2

PDC / BDC in a Samba Domain Controller.
Hello
I makeing a Domain Controller with Samba (v3.0.33) and LDAP (v2.4).
I will install a PDC in the headquarter and a BDC in the subsidiary of
the company that I work.
The PDC and the BDC will have his own LDAP data base.
I just install the PDC without problems and my next step is to install
the BDC.
I configured the LDAP that work in multi master mode. I made some test
and the LDAP works

help with LDAP and Samba
Hello Everyone,
I am having some trouble and would greatly appreciate some assistance.
I apologize if this has been on the list before I am however down to two
hours before due date. I have use samba before with no problems but
this is the first time I have had to do it with LDAP. The problem is no
users appear to be authenticating and there are no errors in the logs.

Hi,
I've just upgraded an old samba 3.0.23 on an old Fedora Core 5 to samba
3.5.4 using an rpm built from the source.
Everything works fine, but when i start the server i get some error
messages(see below).
Before i start the server there is no connection (tested with lsof and
fuser) on the 139 and 445 ports, smbd or nmbd aren't running.
With the old version i never had this

Hi
I am testing the possibility of migrating from nfs to cifs to serve our
Linux clients.
Currently we mount the samba shares, e.g. the home directory, using nfs.
The test setup is that instead of:
mount -t nfs hh1:/home2 /home2 -osec=rw,krb5
I changed to:
mount -t cifs

Vista roaming profiles
Hi All,
I've happily had Samba (3.0.24) operating as DC for my Win2k/XP network for
years. I've just upgraded to Vista and eveything seems to be working fine
(shares, domain logons) apart from roaming profiles. Just after logging on,
the following error appears in a bubble from the system tray:
"Your user profile was not loaded correctly!
You have been logged on with a temporary

Conversion smbpasswd 2.2.8 to 3.0.13
Dear All
I'm about migrating Samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.13 on Sparc, Solaris 8.
Compilation and Installation without any problem.
Runs fine with exception of 2.2.8-user validation in the domain (no
problems with validation of WXP- and W2K-Client Machines, newly set users
(./smbpasswd -a username) works perfectly ).
I simply have copied smbpasswd 2.2.8 to the diferent directory of Samba 3.0.13.

pdbedit password policy - not updating ldapsam
I have Samba and LDAP up and running, but I'm having problems editing the
password policy using pdbedit.
(I'm running 3.0.22)
I've had a look at the man page for pdbedit but I don't really fully
understand what it does in relation to passwd backends. Does pdbedit update
just one backend and expect a user to export the updates to other backends?
I think I've set up ldap as

Joining XP clients to a Samba PDC
Greetings,
I've been pulling my hair out on this problem for several days and I'm
not really any closer to a solution. I hope someone out there can help
me.
I'm trying to set up a samba PDC on a Fedora Core 2 box using an LDAP
backend (on another server). The base install of everything is working
fine. At the unix level LDAP connectivity is configured and working

XP Slow Downloading files
I have added a Samba 3 machine as a BDC and used the net rpc vampire command
to copy all of the users and machines.
For some reason, only Windows XP clients are slow when downloading files
from the Samba BDC. NT and 2000 clients are fine. When an XP client
uploads a file, it takes almost no time at all.
I've been searching but haven't found any answers.
Here is my smb.conf

Windows boxes cannot find the file server
Hi
I have a Samba4 AD running samba and a Samba3 machine joined to the
domain as a file server. I have smbd and winbind running on the samba3 box.
Samba4: hh30.hh3.site
Samba3: hh32.hh3.site
I can browse the shares (netlogon and sysvol) on the S4 machine by
typing \\hh30 into explorer but if I type \\hh32 I get:
Windows cannot find '\\hh32'. Check the spelling. . .etc.
