Borrowing between HTB classes not working as expectd.
I''m using a fairly large number of classes, andf borrowing is not working as expected... I''ve called this setting it up on an IMQ device with speed 1200/256 on a 1536/384 line. I''m then throwing a UDP data transfer at it that gets tossed in one of the class under parent 1:6. The classification is working fine, but when I try to ping out, ping times are in the 900ms

question about wonder shaper and htb
Greetings, My question deals with the htb version of wonder shaper. I used it for some time without much alteration except I noticed something odd in the way the rates are set up for the 3 htb classes. The way I understand it, there are 3 classes: 1:10 - high prio class with rate ${UPLINK}kbit 1:20 - bulk/default class with rate $[9*$UPLINK/10]kbit 1:30 - bulk/default low priority

HTB rates aren''t enforced correctly
Hi! I recently changed my qdisc from CBQ and PRIO to only HTB, and I can''t really seem to get the rates to work as I want them to. I have eight classes, which I set up as follows: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 122 tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 1000kbit ceil 1000kbit cburst 1500 burst 50kb tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:1 classid 1:11 htb prio 0

trouble with traffic shaping HTB
hi there, is there any possible way to control traffic in child??? class with selected protocols for example http i try to use this script but its now working in theory: there is root class 1:0 with subclass 1:2 in class 1:2 all ip adresses have their bandwidth limit 1:{iden} and now i try also control bandwith in this class i.e. if class 1:{iden} have 190kbit i want 95kbit with burst to 190kbit

max latency with htb and wondershaper for voip and p2p
Hi I''m actually using a wondershaper derived script. The problem I have is that when I ping (ping is in high priority queue) the ping time is not as low as I expected with p2p running: 760 packets transmitted, 760 received, 0% packet loss, time 759695ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 39.667/62.863/598.539/33.287 ms, pipe 2 With voip, it is much better with the qos but it is still a little

HTB kernel panic crash!
(list admin, please cancel the same post from my other email address -- forgot to change it on first submission) I need to setup QoS on a linux router/firewall I maintain. I spent 10 hours reading everything I could find on QoS/HTB/iproute2 and came up with what I thought made sense for my situation. So I deployed it and BOOM! KERNEL PANIC! Not what I was expecting... now the debugging begins.

Qos wiht HTB for ADSL/Home
Hi, My home setup is as following: - 1024/128 kbit ADSL - FC3 I set up HTB to prioritize traffic. I am not very pleased with the obtained results. The scope of my setup is to have some ssh sessions with remote servers while browsing websites and running aMule Nothing complicated (I think... ;). The very high priority traffic (ssh), gets stuck when I start aMule and make an FTP download.

htb thingy
hi all i want to first apollogiaze if my message will annoy you(my guess is because it will be quite large:)) i have the following situation on my hands i was recently faced with the problem of traffic shaping/bandwith limiting. my setup is(very common i guess) -internet comming in(going out) through eth0 -internet is being "shared" with the private local network via eth1. i

I want to bring down the HTB rate to 3kbit-r2q? quantum?
Hello Stef, I am working on a Bandwidth management project as part of my college curriculum.I am running TCNG 10-b but I am not able to classify packets based on MAC address using tcng, so I am running tc commands in /tcng/bin and they are working. But is there a way out to classify packets based on MAC address using TCNG. And, I am successful in throttling down the Bandwidth to 8kbit

infinite amount of data for HTB burst
Dear all, I''d like to ask for help with HTB configuration (after having read some manual pages, FAQs and forum posts). Short version: is there a way to specify infinite burst for HTB? (Infinite amount of data to use the "ceil" rate.) Long version: I have the following small topology: cable modem (uplink to ISB) | <ethernet>

Re: Re: HTB 3.13 please help
//Just to not forget eth0 is WAN and eth1 is LAN . The box is NATing my lan. I configured tcng to shape both download and upload and i got connection loss again. Maybe it is my script fault or it is something bad with packets marking . this is how i mark outgoing packets iptables -t mangle -A MYSHAPER-OUT -p tcp -s 192.168.1.23 -j MARK --set-mark $ip and this part of my script which is intented

Htb queueing problem
A note to confirm that "-m physdev --physdev-is-bridged" in the iptables command does enable iptables to work in a bridged environment. I was fighting the same problem and this indeed solved it. Below is my test script running on a two NIC Debian 3.1 266MHz bridge. Before adding the physdev flag, only the "tc filter" commands worked but now the iptables commands also

HTB, rate and ceil question
Hello I have a 64kbits link to location and I need to limit the traffic of a machine (10.200.0.86) to this location to ensure that this machine will no use all th bandwidth, and I did a rule to this situation where the machine has it bandwith limited to 10kbits if there is other traffic to this location, otherwise it can use up to 54 kbits. tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb ... tc

Good day all So at log last I did my script We have a 256kbite connection. This scrip runs on my gateway box(the same for script for eth1(ext) and eth0(int) I want to limit all other traffic to 10kbites but when I do it I give me this error: HTB quantum of class 10034 is to small.consider r2q <7>htb*g j=42801780 Here is my script. If you have any Idea to better it let me know. Its a bit from

HTB Rate and Prio
Hi, I wanted to implement some QOS on my Linux Box with HTB, but after some time spend on the configuration and tests, I still don''t manage to have some correct results. Here are the details : -ROOT 2000 kbits -HIGHPRIO SUBCLASS 50 kbits prio 0 -SUBCLASS1 750 kbits prio 1 -SERVICE1 250 kbits prio 1

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello, after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new post. I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics data... BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour: I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link capacity. If I set both RATE

htb quantum/r2q problem/question
hello, i have a config that is with a large domain of rate, from 2kb to 40Mb and i have some problems with i don''t know how to deal with. so here are some classes 2 with q=1000, one with q 200000 and one with q=6400, all have been calculated by htb, in the code i speficien just rate, ceil, no quantum, no r2q, no bursts ($tc class add $IF_INT parent 1:2 classid 1:21 htb rate

htb limiting trouble: no overlimit or dropped packets
Hi! I''m trying to limit the uplink bandwidth using htb but no packets are overlimit or dropped. :-( My router config: * Linux kernel 2.4.20-pre10 (htb v3.7) with everything built as modules in QoS, iptables in use. * tc binary from htb3.6-020525.tgz * external interface eth0: Internet access, 512 kbit/s uplink speed * internal interface eth1: internal LAN, 100 Mbit/s The hosts in the
