RE: sorting <a href..> with D&D follows the link(browser thinks I click)
Maybe don''t make anchor tags draggable? Or you could do something like
change the href to point to ''#'' and move the actual href into your
javascript, and only call it if they click without dragging. Still, I
think making a clickable item draggable is begging for problems.

RE: Appending <tr>''s to Table - Images in <tr>''sloading slowly.
I have also experienced erratic image "non"-caching by IE in my projects
(seemingly related specifically to AJAX/DOM manipulated nodes as you are
seeing)...
I tried preloading the icon images in body onload in global variables,
then using those global variables to access the images... no luck.
...I have no idea why IE sometimes has to download these images that it
SHOULD have in its

sorting and filtering tables using ajax
I have a table in a view of my ruby on rails application which shows records
from a database table.
The first row of the table contains a table name and buttons to scroll left
and right through the pages.
The second row contains a form which lets me build up a filter string to use
as the '':condition'' parameter of the paginate function in the controller.
The third row contains

Very cool scriptaculous table drag and drop stopped working on new version
Using older versions of prototype.js (1.4.0_rc2) and scriptaculous
(1.5._rc4), I had a master table containg other tables (sections), each
of which had rows. Using tbody''s as containers, I could drag the
section tables up and down over the other section tables AND drag the
rows in a section table up and down within that table or into the rows
of the other section tables, all very

Edge Rails idea -- was [DRY relative to edit and show]
Just got around to understanding your idea Rich.
Your idea seems to apply to every controller with new/edit/show views,
so I think this is a better idea for the edge rails folks to implement
generically than for a newbie like me do as a one-off.
Thanks
Greg

how can I create formated reports?
Hi,
I would like to create reports from some of the views of my application. By
"report" I mean a file formatted so that it can be easily saved and printed.
To make myself just even more clear, let''s imagine I have an application
that handles information about movies. When I display a movie, it shows in
an html page with the name, category, actors and reviews of this movie.

RE: Re: form elements in sortable lists
I never got it to work back on one of the early release candidates of
scriptaculous 1.5. However, I thought I read in one of the release
notes that it was fixed. Are you using the latest version? I ended up
just disabling the sortable while they were in ''editing'' mode, and then
recreating it after they were done editing.

RE: Error: "onclick() is not a function"
I see what he is saying now. When you assign a click event with the
Event.observe it does not allow you to call it with the
$(''xxx'').onclick(); command as it''s looking for the onclick tag in the a
tag.
I''m stumped on a way to get this to work.
