Averaging Out many rows from a column AND funtion to string
Dear all,
1) I have a very large matrix of
str(keep)
num [1:153899, 1:3415] -98.6 -95.8 -96.4 -95.8 -98 ...
that I would like to reduce its size to something like
str(keep)
num [1:1000, 1:3415] -98.6 -95.8 -96.4 -95.8 -98 ...
or anything similar in size as this is a matrix that needs plotting (so is ok if it is 1000 row, 995, or 1123)
I think what I need here is a way of selecting

Additionally to the long list of problem on the FTS previously
discussed, here a new:

VM Slowness
I hope this in the right list, but I was wondering if someone could help me
with a VM I have that has lately started having problems. It had been
running for years without problems. It's possible an update is causing this,
but I can't say.
The VM is running CentOS 5.8 and after a time, the machine begins to slow
down. Things like pings or running commands lag. If I reboot the VM, it runs

Anyone using verizon fios ftth for analog voice? Any echo?
Hello All,
I was wondering, is anyone using verizon's fios going into a zaptel 4
port card?
If so, has anyone experienced echo issues at all?
I am under the assumption that echo issues should be minimal on a ftth
connection, but want to confirm if this is the case.
I have some customers with nasty echo and fios is an option, but if it's
not likely to solve anything, would end up just

Re: Anyone using verizon fios ftth for analog voice?Any echo?
I am using Verizon FIOS to my home. I subscribe to a 5 MB down 2 MB up data package. I continue to pay for a standard voice line in addition to the broadband connection only for local calling, fax and emergency 911 use.
The way it works is that the fiber optic connection is terminated on the house via an ONT (optical network termination). The ONT can provide connectivity for three types of

Linux distros and PPTP passthrough
Any recommendations for a Linux distro to put Shorewall on top of?
My main concern is to be able to use a Windows NT PPTP VPN server behind
the firewall. If I remember right, there were some issues with passing
GRE traffic through some versions of the Linux kernel. Are they solved
now or do I still have to do some cryptic kernel patches?
Experiences with that?
Thanks!

Blacklist IP after 2 failed PPTP connection attempts
I am running shorewall 1.4.8-1 on my firewall. I am also running poptop
on this firewall for remote VPN clients to connect to our local network.
I would like to set some options in pppd, so that after 2 failed user/pass
attempts are tried, the IP address is blacklisted, and an email is sent to
the admin of this IP address that has been blacklisted.
I know this may be more of a ppp question than
