Domain Member server - Domain users don't get access
Hello list! I have a newish Samba 4.1.4 (from git) AD DC running in an Ubuntu Precise KVM guest. It seems to be running well. Recent list posts have led me to set up a second instance of samba/ubuntu as a file server. Like the domain controller, Samba was built from git, but then it was configured using the "Samba/Domain Member" wiki. I added the sfu attributes to a few users/groups

Samba 3.0 Problem
I have Samba setup as a Domain Controller for the domain AROS-NG. I have a Network Appliance that I was able to get to talk to the Samba PDC and it appears to be happy cause I am able to pull up user accounts from the Samba PDC. I am also able to log into XP using the Samba PDC. The only wierd thing that happens is when I try to access the share from the NetApp I get denied. The Netapp gives

ADS authentication stopped working
Running Samba mostly on Redhat 5 with version 3.5.4-0.83 Also failed on Debian 3.5.6 and Solaris with a 3.5 version. Logging details here are from Redhat case. We have a similar problem on all Unix/Linux systems using ADS as the backend authentication for samba shares on Unix/Linux. It was working before today and we didn't change anything. Today, any time we try smbclient or a Windows drive

Samba 3.5 - user authentication issues
Hi. I'm using CentOS 5 with samba3x packages (Samba 3.5.10) and Solaris 10 (Samba 3.5.8) for achieving AD integration. Samba hosts are added as domain members. Now, I've tried to add CentOS 6, which also uses 3.5.10, but have encountered a problem -> users cannot authenticate for some reason. Configurations are pretty much the same across the board, and they look like this: #

Trying to debug a WinXP - Win2000 ADS problem.. HELP!
Sorry for the log log file dump, but while looking at some problems mapping drives, I've run across some stuff. Below is a chunk of my log when I successfully map a network drive from a WinXP client to a Samba 3.0-alpha18 server. The thing that bothers me is that it looks like my DOMAIN\USERNAME combination isn't being honored and I'm getting in based on a check to the locally

no network interfaces found on OpenIndiana (Illumos)
Hi, I've downloaded the samba 3.6.12 OpenCSW package. I joined openindiana to the the active directory, winbind seems to work fine, I see all the users with "wbinfo -u". However, my samba server is not starting. It seems that there is no network card found. 2013/03/06 10:40:39.068405, 0] lib/interface.c:543(load_interfaces) WARNING: no network interfaces found [2013/03/06

Crashing in Get_Pwnam_internals
I have two samba servers with pretty much identical setups (same smb.conf, smbd, winbindd, libnss_winbind.so binaries), joined to the same domain, one of which works, one doesn't. I'm seeing smbd crashing when I try to connect to the problem server with the following information in the logs. OS is Solaris 10 update 5 samba is a repository snapshot that Volker pointed me at to resolve an

trouble joining win xp machines to samba with ldap backend DC
Greetings, I would like some help figuring this out. I really don't know what to do anymore. whenever I try to join an XP machine to the domain it comes up that username or password is not correct. However I know that the credentials are correct, but when I check the logs of that specific machine, this comes up: [2010/09/24 11:42:38, 5] auth/auth_util.c:make_user_info_map(161)

No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2 changes to which I previously referred (https://www.samba.org/samba/history/samba-4.2.0.html) : For the client side we have the following new options: "require strong key" (yes by default), "reject md5 servers" (no by default). E.g. for Samba 3.0.37 you need "require strong key = no" and for NT4 DCs

Samba4 AD DC using s3fs an OpenIndiana/Illumos/Solaris
Hello! I've just built my first samba4 (4.0.5) on an OpenIndiana machine without any problems. But when it comes to the provision step the problems begin. Everything is fine, if I call samba-tool with the --use-ntvfs option. But I want to use samba4 with s3fs because of the support for newer SMB protocol versions. But when I call samba-tool without --use-ntvfs option I got the following:

Samba PDC not in network environment (Windows 7/8)
I recently changed my clients (3 notebooks, 2 desktop pcs) from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7/8 Pro. I followed the guides that can be found on samba.org and all over the internet. Client migration worked after some minor trouble. There is only one thing left that I could no resolve the last few days. All clients see each other under "Network" but no client sees my samba server.

Request for credential for just one user on one specific machine when using FQDN
Hi, I have deployed a new file server (Samba version 4.6.2, CentOS 7) which is running as a member of an AD domain (The DCs are both Windows server 2012, forest and domain level is 2012 as well). I'm using the AD backend to store SID/UID mappings. So everything is working fine except for one specific user on one specific workstation (Windows 10) who can only access the file server with

You may have included this in another email however I will ask anyway, did you set DNS to your server in the Linux and Windows clients? Can you check if a Windows Server can join? Can you use DNS management to check the DNS on you samba server? On Mar 28, 2016 2:15 PM, "Dale Schroeder" <dale at briannassaladdressing.com> wrote: > No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2

I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from 4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot connect to network shares nor print to
