Samba 3.5 to 3.6
Dear reader, I tried to switch my server from samba 3.5 to 3.6. Unfortunately I was not successful. The smb.conf below works without any problems under 3.5 With 3.6.3 I get the following error: [2012/02/23 09:32:21.669389, 1] auth/server_info.c:391(samu_to_SamInfo3) The primary group domain sid(S-1-5-21-463168302-511420122-2937072671-513) does not match the domain

security = domain -- samba adds its netbios name as samba domain to LDAP
Hi! I am running a RedHat Cluster with Samba shares that can failover to other nodes. On every node there is one Samba instance running permanently and acting as BDC (BDC instance) for my Samba domain, that binds to the physical network interfaces of the node. When starting a samba resource on a cluster node, I mount the corresponding file system from SAN on that node and start another

need recipe for samba to do user authentication against a centos 5.5 openldap server (NO IDMAPS! NO PDC!)
Hi all, Please help Ive been wasting days at this... I am not trying to create a PDC, I am not joining an active directory, I am not needing samba schema in my openldap (or do I?), I am not trying to use winbind and idmaps for translations from SID to UID/GID, I just want my samba server which shares linux home directories to authenticate user+password against my existing linux based openldap

samba/PAM/winbind/ssh
I have the winbind login working on FC5 but now logins to local accounts cannot authenticate. My config files are here: http://www.pigeonnier.org/nsswitch.conf http://www.pigeonnier.org/pam.d/ http://www.pigeonnier.org/krb.conf Again, if I try to ssh in as a user that exists only as a local account on the remote host, I am rejected. User msh is -not- a AD account and only exists on the FC5

samba 3.0.4 and -with-ldapsam
I am trying to get samba 3.0.4 to work as a PDC using LDAP with my old samba 2 schema. I used -with-ldapsam when building in the hope that that would be OK. I had a problem when it came to "net groupmap ..." because samba was trying to use the samba 3 schema attribute sambaSID. I got round this by setting passdb backend = smbpasswd ldapsam:ldap://<myldap> so it appears to

Help with ldap configuration please
This is on RHE4, I am getting an invalid DN error. Is there a good resource site for this type of configuration issue? There is a lot of info that comes up through google but I am having no luck finding anything relevant (or that seems relevant to me). Thank you in advance and sorry about the newbie question. smbd version 3.0.25b started. Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2007

Questions about Domain Member server
Hi list, I have a couple of questions regarding Samba being a Domain Member of a Samba PDC and BDC. Situation: 3 servers, running Solaris 9 and Samba 3.0.7. The Solaris machines are LDAP clients (getpwent fetches info from LDAP). The Samba domain is called 'ALW'. Machine 1: PDC + LDAP master (PDC1) Machine 2: BDC + LDAP slave (BDC1) Machine 3: Domain Member server (FS1) A

Fwd: Migrating server
Hi Andrew, We decided to install LDAP on Samba Classic's existing DC (only one in the first stage). To do so we did the following - Installed slapd, ldap-tools, smblad-tools - dpkg-reconfigure slapd - ldapwhoami -H ldap:// -x, gave us anonymous - Stopped the samba service - Added the following to smb.conf passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://sam3dc.mydomain/ idmap backend =

Microsoft Monad Shell
Not sure if this has application for R but Microsoft's new Monad shell is now in public beta. I have not looked at it myself but I wonder if the tools that are required to create Windows R packages could be replaced by this? ---- The Monad team has recently released Monad Beta 3.1 to Microsoft Download Center and we're working diligently towards a release of Monad 1.0! Submitting code
Hello, all. When packaging OpenSSH releases, for a long time I've been converting the man pages for sshd and ssh into sample config files, to ensure that the options described in the config files were up to date with those actually supplied by the code. Nearly two years ago, I tired of the tedious manual process and wrote a Perl script to do the work for me. It's called man2config.pl,

Winbindd startup kerberos fail
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and Win2k DCs.??The eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with a FreeBSD SAMBA server.??I've?used?the?setup?from http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html and many other articles as the basis for what I've done so far. Winbind seems to work and I can show users and gropus using wbinfo although I see some

Again: bugs in contrib/solaris/opensshd.in and buildpkg.sh
(Shame on me: wrong filename in last posting, now here are correct diffs) in contrib/solaris/ (openssh-SNAP-20011017.tar.gz) 1) buildpkg.sh makes wrong link for /etc/init.d/opensshd 2) /etc/init.d/opensshd has not-working killproc here my version tested on Solaris 2.4 and 8 (no pgrep with solaris 2.4, XARGS was undefined, simpler syntax) J?rg --- contrib/solaris/buildpkg.sh Fri Oct 12

RE: error (fwd)
Hi folks, I've got this funny problem with R's foreign library when reading stata files. One file consistently produces vector out of memory errors after gobbling up 2.7G of memory. I parsed through the read.dta function and figured out where the error occurs and the description is below. I am running R-1.8.1 on Debian stable system glibc2.2 kernel 2.4.24. R is is compiled from source
