possible reason for merge not working
Hi Guys, working on a "merge" for 2 data frames. Using the command: x <- merge(annotatedData, UCSCgenes, by.x="names", by.y="Ensembl.Gene.ID", all.x=TRUE) names and Ensembl.Gene.ID are columns with similar elements from the x and y data frames. annotatedData has 8909 entries, so has x(as expected). x has columns for UCSCgenes, but there is no data in them, all

CentOS 6 early panic on ESXi 4.1.0 build 800380
I run VMware vSphere 4 Essentials with three almost identically configured ESXi 4.1 hosts and a mix of 32 and 64 bit guests including Windows 2003 and 2008 as well as CentOS 5 and 6. Recently I updated one of the hosts to build 800380. The new build runs Windows and CentOS 5 VMs fine, but CentOS 6 guests won't come up. I tried two different CentOS 6 VMs. Both have the latest standard kernel

Numerical error in R (win32) (PR#8909)
Hi I had observed the following problem in R (also C, Matlab, and Python). sprintf('%1.2g\n', 3.15) give 3.1 instead of 3.2 whereas an input of 3.75 gives 3.8. Java's System.out.printf is ok though. > round(3.75,1) [1] 3.8 > round(3.15,1) [1] 3.1 Similar outcome with sprintf in R. However, the right answer should be 3.2 Regards Teckpor [[alternative HTML version

xxx not available for .C in package yyy
Hi R package developers. This is literally the strangest thing I've ever seen. Latest (as of a month ago) R under cygwin64. I'm teaching an intern package building and using the .C interface. The package compiles, but when it gets to "setting up lazy load" or some such it throws the error "triang" not available for .C() in package "randpkg". Upon checking,

Updates to RHEL 6 compatible backport of Samba 4.0.3, with domain controller activated
I've been doing some work backporting the Fedora rawshid version of Samba 4.0.3 to work with RHEL 6. The latest updates (with some suggested changes from others) are at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba4repo The full suite for building Samba 4.0.3 on RHEL 6 is there, with all the updated libraries and hooks to put it in a yum repository. In particular, with some help, I've
