Password change
Hi Guys,
We are getting the following error when the users are trying to change the
password from their windows machine: "Configuration information could not
be read from the domain controller, either machine is unavailable or access
is denied"
Our Samba PDC has LDAP backend. We have the following
/etc/ldap/ldap.conf
BASE dc=testdomain
URI ldap://192.168.1.1
TLS_CACERT

Calculating Betweenness - Efficiency problem
Hello,
I am calculating 'Betweenness' of a large network using R. Currently, I have the node-node information (City1-City2) in an excel file, present in two columns where column A has City1 and column B has City2 that city1 is connected to. These are the steps that I go through to calculate betweenness of my network.
a) Convert the City1-City2 (text) into Number1-Number2 in the excel

How to repeat the names?
Dear R helpers
I have a city.csv file as given below.
'city.csv'
city_name1 city_name2
New York City Buffallo
So I define
city_name = read.csv('city.csv')
city1 = city_name$city_name1
city2 = city_name$city_name2
My problem is how do I repeat the names one after other say 10 times i.e. my output should be like
New York
City Buffallo
New York
City

Fwd: Migrating server
Hi Gruss,
At this stage there is only one server, running 3.6.25 on Ubuntu12.04. The
plan to get LDAP to work on this one. Then add the second server 4.x and
the promote it to BDC and then demote this one. Just a side info, we
didn't want to go tdbsam in both as I read it breaks the domain trust.
The domain names are real ones.
I ran the commands you suggested, nothing in reply. I tried

Nothing fancy, and I've done this before...
but today I'm trying to get samba 3.10.5 with tdbsam working on Centos 6.3.
iptables is stopped on the samba server.
selinux is disabled on the samba server.
service smb and nmb are running.
samba server has an 'a' record on our dns server.
samba server is set to be a wins server.
Note- I have ANOTHER wins server on the same subnet for

LDAP auth_bind fails
Hello,
I wanted to configure dovecot for using auth_bind but didn't succeed to
me it seems like it does always an anonymous bind.
Dovecot version 2.1.1 (I started with 2.1.0 and hoped 2.1.1 would fix it)
I tried to play around with the base, pass_attrs,pass_filter to no avail
but didn't succeed.
Looking at a wireshark trace i only saw 7 packets and it seemed to me
dovecot did only

Variables in a Tabular form. easily saved in a txt file
Dear all,
I would like to save few variable-names with their values in a tabular form, with that I mean
that files can be printed easily in R in a tabular form and also saved in a ascii file that when one opens it see also the variables in a nice tabular format.
IS that possible? Below a small example of how should look results in R and in a txt file.

Samba & LDAP: "Unable to allocate a new user id: bailing out!"
Hi!
I'm currently setting up a Samba 3 PDC. So far I managed to setup Samba
with an OpenLDAP backend, but adding a user with the command "net rpc
user add mg password -U root" results in the following error:
Failed to add user 'mg' with: WERR_GENERAL_FAILURE.
In the logfile it says:

CentOS 7, samba-4.4.4-14.el7_3 and openldap-2.4.40-13.el7 -- file permissions?
I am setting up Samba on a standalone CentOS 7 server (using LDAP with
openldap for authentifcation) and things and somewhat working. There is a bit
of weirdness though. smbclient is only able to access *directories* and not
any of the files. Why is that? What am I missing?
Here is a log of a test run:
[heller at c764guest: ~]$ ls -lZAn
total 8424

Domain admins not getting local admin rights
Hi there,
I switched servers yesterday.
The old server was running 2.2.7a-1 on RedHat 8.0.
The new server is 3.0.8-0.pre1.3 on Fedora Core 3.
I did the migration by copying the following:
/etc/passwd
/etc/group
/etc/shadow
/etc/samba/*
I then copied /home and fixed all the permissions on stuff.
I then started up samba on the new server, and unplugged the old one.
Most everything went
