cannot join an existing AD as either a RODC or DC w/ samba4
I'm unable to have samba4 join an existing AD domain as either an RODC (preferrable) or merely a DC. AD domain is Win2k3, but we recently added a pair of Win2k8 DCs to it. Domain functional level is Win2k3. ### Adding samba4 as an RODC ### # samba-tool domain join -d5 my.domain RODC -U'adminuser at MY.DOMAIN' --server=nysv-vmdc3.my.domain INFO: Current debug levels: all: 5 tdb:

transfer FSMO roles from Windows DC
I have the Active Directory domain with Windows 2008 R2 domain controller and Samba domain controller on CentOS 7. Samba is 4.3.5 (self-compiled). Forest and domain levels are Windows 2008 R2. After joining Samba to the domain as the domain controller there were no DC=ForestDnsZones and DC=DomainDnsZones records on "OUTBOUND NEIGHBORS". I fixed it with ntdsutil, as it's written here

Joining samba server to Windows AD OU when OU has slashes in OU name
I'm attempting to join a samba server to a Windows 2003 Active Directory on a network I do not control. The admins are working to help me on this, but I am also attempting to be as inobtrusive as possible. To that end, I have set up a Windows PDC and another samba server (with the same configuration) on a private network to do my own testing without having to hassle the Windows admins and ask

Unable to transfer ForestDns/DomainDNS
I'm working my way off of our Windows 2003 R2 Domain Server. That machine is called PDC, sorry really bad planning so many years ago! So my end goal is to have two samba4 domain controllers. They are setup and joined as DC's, dc01 and dc02. I have most of my files off of PDC but would like to keep it up for a little longer to make sure I have everything off of there. So I tried

Create ou update values ins ASTB when Asterisk is stopped
Hi, The title says it all : is it possible to create ou update values ins ASTB when Asterisk is stopped ? When Asterisk is running, I'm using : asterisk -rx "database put Foo Bar 1" Can I do that when Asterisk is stopped, using some program that can read and write in ASTDB (I'm using Debian Squeeze). Will this change when ASTDB will be moving from Berkeley DB to SQLite 3 ?

No "Group Policy" tab in OU properties
Hi all, Recently I deployed a Samba 4 ADS, using this ( http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO) as a guide. Mostly it went well, until I came to the step of defining the group policy for the OU. I have an OU with users in them, and when I right-click on the OU container and go to properties, I only have the following options: - General - Managed by - COM+ I am therefore missing the

[PATCH v2v] Add -ou option for setting output UUID.
I'm not sure whether this patch is really necessary or a good idea. It does make testing easier, since you can test virt-v2v on a single host (using the -ou none option). Note that current virt-v2v.git does not preserve the UUID in either of the target cases (this is a regression/change from earlier behaviour). Rich. -- Richard Jones, Virtualization Group, Red Hat

send specific NDR message for users in certain OU
That's something you probably want to do on the edge instead of message store, so a better place might be relocated_maps if you use Postfix. With that you can easily customize your ldap search base for accounts-to-be-deleted OU... T. Samba-LDAP - Getting Computer accounts to live in ou=Computers
OK, here is the deal. My system spins like a top with one exception. I would like to store Computer accounts in ou=Computers and get them out of ou=People. I've tried simply makeing this the ou that Computers are added to but then the XP clients cannot seem to see them. Changeing this is likley to be easy to do and incredibly hard to find the specific details of how to do it. I know

Is it possible not to have ou=Computers?
Hi, I seem to remember somewhere that Samba 3 can be configured so that you do not need real users for computers, that these users only exists in some tdb database. How is this possible? Can someone describe how to do this? Many thanks, Tarjei Huse

Good News, ou=computer works! :-)
I'm just storing machine accounts under ou=computer,ou=site,dc=domain,dc=com and it works. Tested with W2K sp2 and W2K sp3, recreating from fresh ldif 2 times were never failed. Im sure it is 'stable' right now :-) 'works' means it was able to add machine trust on-the-fly, or using manual creation with smbpasswd command. The key is in not to use
