virt-install behind proxy (Xen Newbie)
How does one install a new vm behind a proxy? When I start the virt-install routine Xen seems to be unable to load information from the ftp/http sources. As a consequence, I tried to install from the DVD-iso as well as the file system. Xen then prompts "What type of media contains the packages to be installed?". After choosing ''hard drive'' it prompts that I do not seem

Bug#368417: xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386: cannot start NetBSD-HEAD
Package: xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386 Version: 3.0.2+hg9681-1 Severity: important Have been trying to get NetBSD to run under debian unstable with the debian supplied hypervisor. Using the 3.0.2-2 hypervisor supplied by XenSource, it works just fine. Because the install process overrides other things, reverified with debian hypervisor afterwards and symptom continues. Attaching the netbsd.cfg and the

about: memory allocation and the balloon list
Dear all I use the command( xm mem-set ID mem ) trying to understand the memory allocation between the Dom0 and the Guests(vm), but there is still some confusion about this. As the above /proc/xen/balloon list I set xm mem-set Domain-0 128 and changing the vm memory from 256 to 128: xm mem-set vm01 128 (...from vm01 to vm08) before mem-setCurrent allocation: 427792 kB

Cannot ssh to VM01 remotely
I can ssh into the Xen box over my LAN from another machine and I am logged in as vm01. But when I try to ssh in from work I can''t. I configured my router and I still cannot ssh into vm01. I know the sshd daemon is running because I can ssh locally. What could it be preventing me to ssh to vm01 remotely?? Thanks. Kashif _______________________________________________

NAT: pings/DNS works but not the rest
Hello everybody, I''m new to Xen so forgive me if this is already well known issue. I''m using Ubuntu server 7.04 (feisty) with Xen 3.0.3 Everything works perfectly, apart from networking in NAT mode. With bridging it works, with NAT it works, well, quite strange. Namely, pings go through and name resolution works. But when I try to use anything substantial, then

Strange connectivity issues with bridged networking and masquerade
Hi all, I'm currently in the process of building a 2-Node libvirt/KVM Cluster and ran into some issues regarding the network connectivity of our virtual machines. Our setup seemed to work fine, we were able to browse to Google and our own company website and some others from within the VM. Then we tried microsoft.com to download some Windows iso images from MS Partner Network. The page

using tc on xen
Hi Everyone! My knowledge of tc is very much limited and i got introduced to it by my need for traffic limiting on xen based VM''s. For every VM there is a interface. The network is a bridged network. Has any one tried out something like this ? I tried the below script to limit download on an interface however it didn''t seem to work. Still the interface is able to download at

how to connect to a switch with a serial cable? - what command(s) to use?
Hi all, I see one of our switches doesn't want to respond to HTTPS or SSH commands, and I know it's connected to a server via a serial cable. I'm 3 hours drive from that server at the moment, so how can I connect to it from the Linux server, via SSH? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers
