IAXModem or T38Modem?
Hi all, I'm installing Hylafax on my Asterisk system. From what I've read, I can either use IAXModem or T38Modem to provide the virtual fax device. So at the risk of starting a religious war, which one should I use? I don't mind running IAX if I have to. I want as much flexibility and stability as I can get. So, what are your recommendations? connecting asterisk to hylafax via t38modem: is it possible?
Hi, I'm trying to use Hylafax without a modem. Is it possible to use t38modem to make Hylafax send and receive fax via Asterisk? If yes, how? I'm searching on internet but still haven't found anything useful. TIA GIorgio Incantalupo

Asterisk, Hylafax and T38Modem - help!
Hi All, I know that this may not strictly be an asterisk issue, but if anyone has any ideas on this prob it would be appreciated. I have a working asterisk setup using Suse 9.1, a BT ISDN BRI card (Fritz?), sipura 3000 and a few cisco 7940's. I wanted to do add faxing into the equation, so I thought I would try and setup the following: PSTN->asterisk->hylafax->pc At the moment

Fax with Asterisk and T38Modem
Hi, I'm fighting with HylaFAX, Asterisk and T38Modem since some time, to get fax2mail and mail2fax working, my SIP-provider only supports T38 and thus using G711 with IAXModem is not an option. I have got running mail2fax with HylaFAX+ 5.5.0, Asterisk 1.4.20 and T38Modem 2.0.0 successfull, but I'm not able to upgrade to anything newer than Asterisk 1.4.24. I was able to break down this

Asterisk T.38 Passthrough + T38Modem/Hylafax - has anyone had luck with this?
Hi, I'm trying to get T.38 passthrough to work to T38Modem and Hylafax so I can terminate T.38 faxes from an ATA. However I haven't had much luck. I've tried two supposedly T.38 capable ATAs, the Grandstream 206 and the 502. The 286 seems to connect to T38Modem, but Hylafax doesn't get any fax data. The 502 never even gets fax tones from Hylafax, so it seems like its t.38 is broken

Asterisk and hylafax: how to debug ...
Hi, I hope you might give me some hints on how to find where my configuration is wrong, I am new to Asterisk and do not know, how to find the problem. Running Asterisk (version: 1.8.13.1~dfsg-3) on Debian Wheezy. On the same maschine: Hylafax fax server. I want hylafax to use t38modem (a virtual T.38 modem) for sending faxes. t38modem schould connect to asterisk on the same host. If hylafax

spandsp and app_rxfax (alternative topic: t38modem)
Dear gods of the PBX (flattery works here, right?) - I've been pulling my hair out trying to get Asterisk to receive and decode a fax using spandsp and app_rxfax. It seems like it should be working. The fax machine on the other end connects and Asterisk reports a fax coming in. But when it's done all I have is a 2 or 3 KB TIF (see attachment). The console activity looks completely

T38modem in loopback mode does not work on asterisk 1.4.20.1
Hi! I'm trying to get t38modem working and started with the loopback mode. I installed everything according to http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/T38modem+configuration+with+Asterisk and used a stock asterisk 1.4.20.1 compiled from source. Openh323, ptlib_unix and t38modem are compiled from source as well, as outlined on the wiki. Hylafax starts sending the job (sudo faxstat -s shows one

Converting from FXO to SIP?
I have a customer who has an analog PBX that is able to be put in "away mode" such that when an inbound call comes in, it rings their cordless phone. This lets them leave the desk without risking missing a call. However, we'd like to find a black box that would act like the cordless phone as far as the PBX was concerned, but instead of ringing a handset, we want it to dial an

I have tried the directions at- http://www.voipinfo.org/wiki/view/T38modem+configuration+with+Asterisk and I just can't get it to work. Does anyone know of a way? (Even mention paid software)... Seeking advice about ISDN BRI Cards
Checkout Beronet ISDN cards and Berofix Gateway (appliance or pci card) Personally for my last installation I chose Berofix card which is rock solid and reliable, yet easily configurable. With berofix you don't need telephony drivers on the host system, the isdn card is detected as a NIC and all configuration is done using a web interface. Then you configure FreePBX a new trunk to use the

Request: please test modification to EWS calendar functionality
I have expanded the EWS calendar functionality within Asterisk 1.8 so it is now possible to access any calendar within an Exchange 2007 or 2010 server. I have put the changes onto the reviewboard for astrisk but currently no one responded. So if you use the EWS calendar functionality within Asterisk and would like to have access to any calendar in Exchange please try the patch in the

Cisco IAXmodem HylaFAX
Hi, I have a question: In my company a have a 100% IP Telephony implemented (Cisco Phones, Routers, Switches, etc). We are connected to our operator by two E1 lines. The PBX is on operator side (a H.323 Gateway is configured on call manager). I study the possibility to implement a Hylafax server. In some sites I read that with the IAXmodem is possible to have virtual modems, with don't so

Problems with t38modem and bitrate sent to t38-termination service
Hi all the people in the list! I'm new on this list, this is my first post. I configured asterisk 1.6 with freepbx 2.7 and dahdi to send faxes with t38modem conected to hylafax as a sip extension of asterisk. Everything is supposed to be configured fine, the faxes start sending, but at the middle of the transaction, it fails. The T.38 termination provider told me that they were receiving

Echo on one E1 line, but not the other
We're rolling out Cisco 7940 phones, linked to *, which is running a TE405p EuroISDN. We have 2 ISDN lines, one we had for testing, and one for general (40+ users) use. During the testing phase, we had 10 phones linked to the second ISDN line, and there were no problems with echo at all. Lucky me. However, since we have started rolling out, we've had quite loud complaints that there is
