Problems with Samba and Active Directory
Afternoon! Let me apologize first if this is something soooo simple, but i have been working on this for days and I'm still stuck on one part. Where to start. Small user environment (under 100 users) using Active Directory on Win 2k3 server. Running Fedora 8 on a server, and I am trying to get it added to the domain, and to be able to access a share using Windows usernames and passwords.

How can I remove these log entries 'Failed to create Users' and 'Failed to create Administrators'
Hi, I have a very small setup, one XP/clinet and one Vista/client and a Ubuntu/samba server. I like to cleanup my log.smbd but I can't figure out how! I have everything up and running and I can access the share's from the XP client. I googled around and it seems that I should bind some Windows group/user against Unix group/users with something like 'net groupmap add rid=2512

samba log and cups
We've seen a lot of lines in samba log with the message; [2006/05/18 17:49:15, 0] printing/pcap.c:pcap_cache_reload(149) Unable to open printcap file CUPS for read! Our smbd isn?t compiled with CUPS why we are using a customized "print command" however, we are using CUPS as printer system with; printing = CUPS printcap name = CUPS All system is working well, the only problem is

Bad file modification date/time stamps created from windows clients
I'm running samba server version 3.0.28a on an HP-UX pa-risc machine with XP-pro windows clients. When a windows client creates a new file on the samba share the modification time is not set correctly. On the HP-UX side date/time stamp shows as: % ls -l README -rwxr--r-- 1 e6b564 users 1081 Dec 13 1901 README The date/time stamp is always "Dec 13 1901" ?

Samba 3.2.6 upgrade -> smbd panic in printing.
Hello, upgraded to Samba 3.2.6, and immediately printing went into coma. Observed that printers lose their configurations (driver models, locations, etc). And if I reset the printer drivers on each share, eventually they will be lost again. Looking at the logs we are getting panics like this: --- [2008/12/16 05:12:51, 0] lib/util_tdb.c:tdb_log(682) tdb(/var/lib/samba/printing/CanonC1.tdb):

DFS question
Was wondering if someone could tell me if this is correct. I want to set up some DFS shares. I have 3 servers with SAMBA/LDAP on them. My first is basically my PDC and the other two are my BDCs. I assume that I will have to set all of this up on each server, so that no matter which server catches the logon, the logon script will get run. Also, if one of the servers was to go down for a

My problem is that users from trusted domains can not access to my samba shares Wbinfo -m - show all the trusted domains Wbinfo -u - show all the users include the trusted domains users. Any Idea? Cannot login from windows
I've been reading all over and I think I've tried everything except the right way, but I cannot seem to login to my samba server from windows. I am using Samba 3.0.33 on Linux as the server, and have Linux, windows XP, and Windows Vista clients. I am only on a home network so I don't have a need for fancy stuff, I am just setting up a means for filesharing besides ssh. I can

I'm having problems with unclean hangups (being read as a flash instead of a hangup?). ext3->ext2->ext3 and unclean umount
Suppose I have the latest and greatest e2fsprogs. >From reading the docs I understand that 1) boot ext3, clean umount - you can remount ext3 or ext2 2) boot ext3, unclean umount - you can remount ext3 - you can e2fsck and remount ext2 Does this mean that normal linux init script e2fsck will do it, in case fstab says ext2? Or you should make sure to run e2fsck by hand with -f? 3) boot

[PATCH 1/3] Fix RHEV cleanup on unclean shutdown
Cleanup was not happening properly if a migration to RHEV was killed prematurely with a Ctrl-C. Firstly, the SIGINT and SIGQUIT handlers were not being registered early enough in virt-v2v.pl. Secondly, if Ctrl-C killed the guestfs qemu process first it would deliver a SIGPIPE to v2v, which caused an unclean shutdown without cleanup. Fixes RHBZ#596015 --- v2v/virt-v2v.pl | 17 ++++++++++++++---

unclean file system
Hey everyone, Thanks for the quick help resonses once again, We got some mail saying that RAM disks were not the way to go. So we re-installed, made several partitions to use, and rebuilt xen. However, we''re still having trouble mounting partitions when xeno-linux boots. We give a physical grant of one of our newly made paritions (/dev/hda14 in particular) to the domain. But when

samba crashing on startup
hi, i've been trying for like two weeks to figure out why samba doesn't run properly. from the logs it looks like smbd will start followed by nmbd. then nmbd will exit for no apparent reason. i'm able to start samba manually with the command '/etc/init.d/samba start'. right now i'm assuming nmbd is the reason why samba doesn't load. i'm running samba version
