replacement for start-stop-daemon on CentOS
Hi Folks, I'd like to use "start-stop-daemon" on my centos-machine. I know , it's debian-like. But I can't find "startproc" on my machine nor in the repos. What is the CentOS-replacement for "start-stop-daemon"? Thx Timothy P.S. I found a start-stop-daemon.c script - but how to compile it? gcc start-stop-daemon.c ends in much errors.

Amavisd and ClamAV
Hi, I want to move my mail server from sendmail to postfix over christmas. I've got a test server running with the following: postfix dovecot postgrey amavisd-new clamav spamassassin I've followed the howto's on the wiki <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos> with the exception that I installed amavisd-new and clamav from the EPEL repo rather than rpmforge. Things work OK with

Logwatch with Postfix and Amavisd-new
I'm trying to get usable reports out of logwatch on this new system. Looks like the reports are running in an 'unformatted' mode under Postfix/Amavisd. I found a couple of programs, postfix-logwatch and amavisd-logwatch. These sound promising. I am running Amavisd as the frontend to Postfix. Is anybody running either of these as a logwatch filter? If so, is it repetitive to run

Questions about clamd, amavisd and squidclamav
Hi list, I have a small server with a Postfix, amavisd and ClamAV installed and works fine. I install a squid proxy with squidclamav. Clamav works with /etc/clamd.d/amavisd.conf, but squidclamav cannot connect through the Unix socket in /var/spool/amavisd/clamd.sock. How can I configure clamav to create another Socket in /var/spool/squid/clamd.sock for example ? The service is clamd.amavisd,

Amavisd start
This is CentOS 6. Why can it be that when I try to run /etc/init.d/amavisd start ... I get this error: Starting Mail Virus Scanner (amavisd): Config file "/etc/amavisd.conf" is inaccessible: Permission denied, at /usr/sbin/amavisd line 2085. [FAILED] But when I use sh: sh /etc/init.d/amavisd start ...it starts ok. This is connected to the fact that my amavisd.conf is from another

CentOS-7 amavisd
Is anyone running amavisd and clamd under CentOS-7? Amavisd-new seems difficult to install, and clamd is difficult to find. (I've only added the epel repository, as I had a conflict when I added rpmforge as well.) I take it amavis is still the recommended way to run postfix? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

clamd / amavisd missing socket
I think something along these lines appeared before but I was unable to find them. I'm on a 7.6 system, been running clamav and amavisd-new since 6 days with little problem. On a recent reboot, clamd at amavisd does not start up and fails manual start. The problem seems to be the missing socket that connects the pair, "/var/run/clamd.amavisd/clamd.socket". I believe this should

Amavisd-new delivers spam emails
I recently noticed that my email server now delivers spam to final recipients even though the spam score is more than the $sa_kill_level_deflt. A probable reason is that some amavisd update has introduced new configuration variables, which I have not defined in my configuration, and the default value of some such variable causes this unwanted behavior. I tried to go through documentation,

postfix + amavisd-new
I've been following the instrunctions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd> for installing Amavisd, Clamav and SpamAssassin on top of postfix/dovecot . Dovecot is working fine, but I want to deal with spam email. (I am using sendmail/dovecot with procmail and spamassassin on another server, but decided to go over to postfix on this server when I saw it is now the CentOS default.)

Re: problem in running amavisd-new with postfix on Centos4.0(problem solved)
hey friends, my problem is solved, the culprit was the typo mistake in master.cf file of postfix.
