Adding namespace alias_for causes index resync?
I just added a new namespace-alias with alias_for. Apparently this causes all mailbox indexes to be resynced? Is this intentional and/or is there some way to avoid this? My NFS storage pretty much kills its elf when hundreds of thausands of users needs to resync indexes :) Thanks -- Tom

Phantom message using mixed namespaces
Hi, all. At home, I have a mailbox where mbox is the default (for inbox and some smaller mailboxes) and all my lists are in a Maildir format. I'm building a mailstore server at work where I want to use Maildir as the default mailstore, but I want to keep mbox on the side to aid in archiving messages. My configs are as follows for mail location and namespaces: Home: mail_location =

namespace hierarchy
Hi, I'm migrating from Courier to Dovecot and would like to keep the original namespace and add two new ones on the new server. There's only one namespace in Courier which is "INBOX." . The seperator is "." In the new server I would like to have 3 namespaces (private, public, shared) and use "/" as separator. Is it possible to keep "INBOX." for

Is there a way to hide the top level virtual IMAP folder when using the virtual plugin?
I'm experimenting with the Virtual plugin to give users access to folders like "All Mail", "Recent" and so on, similar to Gmail. Something like this works properly: mail_location = maildir:~/ namespace { inbox = yes location = prefix = INBOX. separator = . type = private } namespace { prefix = INBOX.virtual. separator = . location =

Autoexpunge not working for Junk?
Hi all, I set up dovecot a couple of months ago and am having trouble getting autoexpunge=30d to work on my Trash and Junk mailboxes. Not sure why not because I'm not getting error messages in my log. Running "doveadm search -u <user> mailbox Junk savedbefore 30d" shows me many messages (I've got messages back to mid-May, and a couple of other users have them back to

IMP, Dovecot and multiple namespaces
Hey guys, I'm wondering what the best way is to be backwards compatible with Courier mailbox formats and not duplicate mailbox trees with Dovecot. Is anyone doing this right now? My Dovecot 2.0.13 is configured as follows for Namespaces: namespace { inbox = yes location = prefix = separator = . } namespace { hidden = yes inbox = no list = no location = prefix

alias_for
I noticed the addition of a new namespace configuration "alias_for". What pracical difference is adding this over and above making namespace aliases hidden and disabling list, as in older versions of dovecot configurations? Joseph Tam <jtam.home at gmail.com>

Filtering with Public Namespaces and Sieve Plugin
Hi, after upgrading to Dovecot 1.2x including the rewritten Sieve plugin replacing 'cmusieve', messages which have formerly been filed to a "Public/Mailing-List" maildir are no longer filtered correctly. The sieve script itself is included in the user's personal-script. The messages are dropped to the INBOX rather than the "Public Namespace Maildir". Log's

Doveadm Backup (other) issues
Hello, I also have issues using Dovecot Backup. I am trying to Backup (or possibly Sync - one way) a single user IMAP account from a remote server, unknown type, to my own server. For that purpose, I defined the following parameters : imapc_host = <host name> imapc_user = <user name> imapc_password = <password> imapc_features = rfc822.size (<user name> has format:

Panic: IMAP: Trying to allocate 2273345672 bytes
Hi, we're running dovecot 1.1.2 (centos5 32-bit rpm from atrpms) havn't had any real issues with it, but today it looks like an index has become badly corrupted. We're seeing this in the logs every time we log in to a particular account: 2008-09-10T11:56:07+01:00 mail8 dovecot: Panic: IMAP(xxx): Trying to allocate 2273345672 bytes 2008-09-10T11:56:07+01:00 mail8 dovecot: IMAP(xxx):

NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT after temporary connectivity break to AD DC
Thanks Rowland, I have been using "idmap config xxxx : backend = rid" instead of "ad". So i understand that nothing is to be set from the windows AD side. and i am running wbinfo -t as root user. Few observations. * I have multiple Active directory DCs. And in the site where the machine is located, we have 2 ReadOnly DCs. * On capturing network packets, I observed that the

shorewall6: IP fragementation getting blocked?
Hey, I have a setup that has one machine communicating to a server using UDP over IPv6. For specifics, it is using collectd with a boosted MaxPacketSize in the network config. What this means is there is some IP fragmentation happening, and that is getting REJECTed. My policy is to REJECT, and I have an ALLOW for the particular communication I want. What I''m getting in my logs is

My apologies for the same. I shamelessly borrowed these settings from existing working setup after mine was not working. Changed smb.conf file. But result is the same. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g works and gives me users but wbinfo -t doesnt.
