Suspend/resume on IBM X31
Greetings I am having trouble with suspend/resume on my Thinkpad X31, running 7.0-STABLE as of April 23. Any help would be appreciated. First problem: When I run "acpiconf -s3" from mulituser mode, the system suspends immediately, without executing /etc/rc.suspend (which has mode 755); then on resume, I get a panic. Second problem: When the system panics, I don't get a dump (or

NULL filled corrupt files
Hello! I've seen, some people experienced this problem earlyer, but I have not found any solution in the mailing lists... So the problem is, copying files from an NT Workstation (SP5 ) on a Samba server running under Linux (2.0.10) in some (rare) cases results in files exactly of the right size but filled with NULL bytes. I'm using samba 2.0.5a and likely since version 2.0.0 this

bwi: no DS tssi no OFDM tssi
Hello, I am attempting to get by broadcom wifi card up and running, am sick of trying to get ndis working, and am attempting to use the bwi driver (originating in dragonflyBSD). I'm hoping others here have tried to do the same and have some pointers. I'm using 7.1-RELEASE (system/source are in-sync) and my card is a BCM94306MP. My dmesg is posted below. Bwi(4) is installed and it

forced fsck (again?)
hello everyone. i guess this has been asked before, but haven't found it in the faq. i have the following issue... it is not uncommon nowadays to have desktops with filesystems in the order of 500gb/1tb. now, my kubuntu (but other distros do the same) forces a fsck on ext3 every so often, no matter what. in the past it wasn't a big issue. but with sizes increasing so much, users are

disk label and geli encrypted slice
Hello, I'm using geli on laptop PC with only one HDD. Disk is divided into two slices, ad0s1 and ad0s2. Second slice (ad0s2) is encrypted with GEOM ELI using two-factor authentication - passphrase plus keyfile on USB drive. FreeBSD is installed on ad0s2.eli and first slice is not used by this system so let's say that I've got a full disk encryption. Now my question - is it safe

Tracking user's activity
Greetings, I've been looking for a proper way to to track down user's activity inside the shell as I'm helping my colleague to configure a web hosting and shell hosting server. Someone have referred me to this article -- http://bsdtips.utcorp.net/mediawiki/index.php/Snoop which is using 'watch' commands to view user's activity once they logged in to the server I found

disk image creation, step by step
Hi, I am aware that it is impossible to netboot ISO files through pxelinux/memdisk and that there are multiple reasons for not even attempting it (like the operating system which will try to access a physical optical drive through its own drivers anyway, BIOS issues etc.). When people ask questions regarding ISO support in pxelinux/memdisk, they're mostly told to convert the ISO into a

GEOM_RAID3: Device datos is broken, too few valid components
Hello list, Last night one disk of my desktop machine dead causing a hard lock of the computer. It was a component of a mirror volume so it wasn't as serious as it initially looked. AC-97 problem between RELENG_4_8 and RELENG_4
Sorry if this is a known problem... I've been tracking RELENG_4 on my Toshiba laptop for a while now; a couple of months ago (not sure when) my sound stopped working. More specifically, when it gets to the pcm probe, the boot hangs. I dual-boot with WinXP and figured that somehow XP had hosed the hardware, so I wrote it off. Today, I made world with RELENG_4_8, and voila, my sound's

SAMBA eats up all memory...
Hello, I am running SAMBA 2.0.7.0 on AIX 4.3.3.0 I have a 1 Tera Byte filesystem on AIX made available to NT and MAC. There is heavy IO activity on this filesystem and all of a sudden the NT's and MAC's can't read or write any file on this shared filesystem. Also AIX is running out of memory whenever this happens and files cannot be copied onto the said filesystem even at unix

idea regarding USB/firewire devices
>I don''t use Firewire .. .so I''m useless... anyone got any ideas? Try this: Delete the releveant entries at /etc/fstab. Unplug the devices. Reboot. Plug the devices back in. Reboot. I did this with a TDK CD burner, and it worked (for some reason)

making galeon2
it *COULD* be because you have gdk-pixbuf for gtk1.2 installed, and gtk2 needs pixbuf for gtk2. i *vaguely remember* deleting something like /usr/X11R6/include/gdkpixbuf* (a directory) resolved a similar problem. but i could be wrong, it was before the gnome-ng port arch was integrated. seek in that direction. pkg_info and 'make install' failures
Hello, According to * ports/54407 Newer bsd.port.mk don't work on FBSD 4.6.2 or prior * ports/54475 due to changes in bsd.port.mk, ports no longer install on pre-4.7 releases. * ports/54561 all ports currently fail on FreeBSD 4.5 it seems quite a few people have problems installing FreeBSD ports, because port installation has started using pkg_info's -O parameter. Heads up: New if_xl committed
As promised, the updated if_xl with full busdma support / other improvements has been MFC'd to 4.8-stable. While I have put this driver through extensive testing, it is possible that there may be bugs which are either present in the -current version or that I added in the MFC process. So, if you cvsup to -stable anytime in the future and notice problems with if_xl, please tell me ASAP!
