Library error when using R CMD check
Hi, I've got a library I'm trying to build, and am having an error on R CMD check... The source is fine, and the script runs OK, but during the script test execution it downloads a library from an online repository, which goes fine and it says that installation was successful... However, after it installs the library OK, it then cannot find it (despite it being installed properly in

Palm m50x & the USB stack
[It seems the last time this came up was in march, under the heading of "Sony Cybershot should be in hardware notes". This message is intended mainly to document what I've managed to track down.] The m500s still will not sync with pilot-link 0.11.7 in -STABLE. An easily triggerable panic is another issue [1]. The pilot-link code first opens /dev/ugenX and then switches to

__stderrp problem again with tk83
Hiho, I just stumbled across the problem with the unresolved __stderrp symbol. I've read the existing threads to that, as well as UPDATING. However, there are some differences, between the reported problems and my problem: 1. the unresolved symbol is not complained about in libm, but in libtk83.so from the tk-8.3.5_1 port. 2. I _did_ install all the compatibility libs for 3.x, I even

Stat textbook recommendation
Monte, For a list of online sources that may be useful, go to http://www.uvm.edu/~dhowell/methods/Websites/Archives.html and check out some of the material referenced there. Clay Helberg's site is particularly helpful. Unfortunately it is virtually impossible to keep links current, so some are likely to be dead--although you can often find them via Google. - round() strange behaviour
Hi, I am getting some strange results using round - it seems that it depends if the number before the decimal point is odd or even .... For example: > round(1.5)[1] 2> round(2.5)[1] 2 While i would expect that round(2.5) be 3 and not 2. Do you have any explanation for that? I really appreciate your input, Monica

Sym links to subfolders?
I just installed dovecot 0.99.10.6 and I'm trying to use symlinks for subfolders. I have my mail in ~/Maildir and I want to make symlinks such as from .Sent to ~/Mail/Sent. All of these folders are maildir and the permissions are correct. I've searched the list and I cannot find anything stating that it should not work. In fact I've seen posts that claim it should work. However, it

smbfs, strange sym link import, starting with kernel 2.6.0
After installing kernel 2.6.0 on a samba client machine, the following problem occurred: The server: One machine in the networks acts as a file server using samba 2.2.3. (Debian-Woody). daemon and absolute sym-links
I THINK I've found a bug in rsync. When running an rsync daemon, absolute sym-links are not created correctly on the daemon end; the leading 'slash' is stripped off. To 'fix' this behavior, the following 3 changes can be made (to version 2.5.5): flist.c:63 add: extern int am_daemon; flist.c:538 (was 537) modify: if (sanitize_paths && !am_daemon) { config.h:316

rsyncd bug for sym-links
I'm 99% sure there is a bug in rsync when running in daemon mode on a 'remote' server. The bug is that when trying to rsync a sym-link, the daemon 'leg' of the code strips off the leading path separator (for linux, this would be a '/'). I have produced a 'fixed' version of the code and we have been using it for at least 6 months. We've also used the

max rsa key length, sym. cipher and digest recommendations ?
