Using auth_bind_userdn causes uid to be improper case
I'm having a problem with dovecot-1.0-1.1.rc15.fc6 + LDAP +

Configuring Dovecot for use with Active Directory
Hello,
My server is configured as follows:
FreeBSD 6.1
OpenLDAP 2.3.27
Cyrus SASL 2.1.21
Dovecot 1.0.rc15
I have PostFix configured to use SASL for SMTP AUTH, which in turn leverages OpenLDAP to verify users in Active Directory. I do not have, nor want to in the future, local users in FreeBSD, so I've configured PostFix for Virtual Mailboxes.
Everything is working and I'm getting

user_global_uid and user_global_gid
Hi to all,
I am using the new beta release 1.1.
I see that parameters user_global_uid and user_global_gid are no more used
in dovecot-ldap.conf. That means that, as I use LDAP as backend I am obliged
to se t these two fileds in LDAP for each user even if they are always
the same, as I use virtual domains.
I see that I can set the in dovecot.conf the parameters mail_uid and
mail_gid, but

Dovecot on OpenBSD stalls
Hello list,
I'm using dovecot 1.0.2 on OpenBSD 4.1. About every month, dovecot will just stall, without any error messages. The processes
are still running, the network ports are open, but the login just hangs.
The following error message does occur on a very regular basis:
Aug 15 00:52:37 mail dovecot: auth(default): LDAP: ldap_result() failed: Can't contact LDAP server

dovecot-auth: returning incorrect maildir for user (user seeing another user's mail)
timo, here is an bizarre bug for you:
i had (foolishly, it turns out) configured dovecot-auth to do ldap
authentication binding with a prefect userdb (configs at end of
message). everything worked fine, although with huge numbers of pop
logins per second we started to see some pileup in the pop3-login
processes as they were all waiting for ldap responses on the single ldap
connection. the

user_global_uid - tricky to set
Hola!
Dovecot should serve virtual mail users. So I've set user_global_uid
and user_global_gid in dovecot_ldap.conf to vmail/vmail. Also I've
commented auth the user_attrs field. Still Dovecot tries to switch to
the uid that is defined in the LDAP entry.
It took me some time to figure out, that the only way to prevent this
is to set
user_attrs = foo=uid,bar=gid
or something like this,

dovecot imap hangs
All,
I recently did a fresh install/setup on centos 5 to replace my older
courier-imap and all seemed to go well until today I started to notice
that it simply hangs. I use thunderbird and squirrel mail and after a
while it seems like I"m simply rejected. I'm almost guessing that it has
to do with the session timing out and then dovecot is unwilling or
unable to renew the session. I

omindex => Unknown extension
Hi all,
I'm having a recurrent problem with Omega's indexing.
When I run omindex, it sometimes misses to recognize the extension of
some files (.doc, .pdf) and skips them. In the same run, omindex is
otherwise perfectly able to index other files with same extensions. The
reason is not clear but it should occur before it selects a content
converter since for example, if I manually run

[python indexer] add meta informations
Hello,
I'm trying to index some blog stuff through python bindings.
I'd like to know how to add some informations (url, title, date, and so on) so that I can reach them through a xapian.Enquire object..
I believe it's something to be set in xapian.TermGenerator(), but... I can't manage to find which function. I'm waiting for something like :

Quotas from Active Directory LDAP
Hi Guys,
I've been trying to get this to work for 3 days now, but no luck. I
have Dovecot set with an Active Directory back-end. Everything is
working properly but I can't get user specific quotas.I tried with
both 1.0.13 and 1.0-rc7. All users have the same quota which is set in
dovecot.conf

Static home while using LDAP
Hello all,
I've been googling for a workaround for this for nearly a week to no
avail and I hope someone in the list can shed some light on it.
I have downloaded and compiled dovecot 1.0.5 and applied the
quota-warning to it. I have configured everything and it's working
wonderfully, even the lda with the sieve plugin. This is my current
relevant configuration:

passdb/userdb args
I'm a bit unclear on these - give me a moment to ramble on. I should
mention I'm using version 1.0.3, my primary backend is LDAP, and I do
NOT want to store user mail folders in my LDAP directory.
I currently have the following:
default_mail_env = maildir:/var/mail/%d/%n
passdb ldap {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf
}

Dovecot LDAP problems
I'm currently trying to configure a linux mailserver running centos to
use an xserve running snow leopard. I am configuring the mailserver to
run dovecot,sendmail,clamav,spam assassin and squirrelmail so it matches
those used by the mac.
The problem I am having is that I cannot get the server to authenticate
properly to the macs LDAP database. As far as I can tell it is either a
