A small note to all the FreeBSD folks about Ruby performance. While trying to tune Mongrel to run faster on FreeBSD I was stumped as to why it was so horribly slow compared to Linux. The mboot.c32 included with ESXi seems to be an older version that runs into an "out of memory loading.." problem halfway through, even though the box has 8GB memory. I downloaded a newer copy of WineX from the CVS, using WinCVS (Pesky winmodem doesn't work with Linux). I copied it to my linux partition & did a ./configure .
