Filesys::SmbClient & kerberos bug?
I'm trying to use Filesys::SmbClient to connect to a windows share using kerberos to authenticate, however, I get a permission denied error. I've tried this on a FC5 with samba 3.0.22 and on Solaris 9 with samba 3.0.22 and 3.0.23rc2. Using kerberos with the command smbclient works however. If I specify a password, I can connect; however, I need to use kerberos. Since the smbclient

Speex requirements on a TI Davinci / ARM926EJ-Sid(wb)
(Resending since the archive seems to have eaten the text.) I'm working on getting Speex running on a TI Davinci (6441), on both the ARM and the DSP. My immediate goal is to understand the processing requirements on different architectures so that I can properly specific an engineering project. I have it up and running on the ARM, and I just wanted to see if anyone could sanity-check

PATCH for libsmbclient.c (samba-2.2.5)
Hello there, we are running samba-2.2.5 under AIX4.3.3 (IBM silver node). As we tried to run the perl module Filesys::SmbClient we found the following problem in samba-2.2.5/source/libsmb/libsmbclient.c : AIX returns for "rlp.rlim_max" (file handler) the largest unsigned integer. Inside the function smbc_init the variable "smbc_start_fd" is calculated by adding a "guard

Hierarchial storage management or automated archival to tape
Hi list! While regular backup solutions like amanda or bacula are very good at their job, ie keeping point2point copies of the files currently on disk, I find them less suited for archiving - having unused files move to tape in duplo and stay there until requested. I've even read of multi-tier solutions - move to slower disks after a week and further on to tape after a month. Does anyone

Harddisk gone bad
Hi all, I know this is the EXT3 list, and my problem is with an EXT2 filesys, but I cannot seem to find a more suitable list on this server, and I have seen a lot of knowledge go by on this list and in the archives, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway... Here goes nothing: I am in a terrible problem: My data disk on my Linux server has gone bad, with approx 18 GB of data on it, and I

PATCH for filesys corruption in ext3 with data=journal
Hi, as I mentioned in earlier mail to ext3-users I have been getting some corruption on an ext3 filesystem that has been serving NFS. I am now confident that I fully understand the problem and have a patch. It only affects data=journal mode and I wonder if it might also be the cause of the corruption noted by a number of people on linux-kernel. First I will explain the problem. Then display

Old Samba 3.x server as a Samba 4 AD member.
Hi everyone, we plan on setting up a Samba 4.x based AD. We have a couple of ancient to old systems running samba 3.0.24 to 3.5.7 and 3.6.24. Is there any problem to integrate those old systems as member of a Samba 4-driven AD? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Emmanuel Florac | Direction technique | Intellique

Moving users from a Samba 3.6 to 4.9 (tdb)
Hello, I have an old 3.6 server to be replaced with a new 4.9 one. They are standalone, using tdbsam backend. I copied system users and group, then /var/lib/samba/*.tdb from the old to the new one. However, obviously the newer samba absolutely doesn't care about my old user database. "pdbedit -L" returns nothing on the new server. Is there some upgrade step I'm missing here?

Issues with mounting Samba shares after update
Actually it isn't part of AD at all. We are using FreeIPA and Samba. We just finally figured this out with the help of some folks at Red Hat. It turned out there was a bug in one of the libraries that came along with sssd (sssd-libwbclient I believe). Their suggestion to use winbind and the version of the same library that came with it seems to have solved our problem instantly. It
