Multiple file uploads
I have a form with multiple file upload fields (1-10), of which 2-10 are optional. So i need to cycle thru all file fields and pick only those that have a file attached. Selecting only one file in the form, the paramters look simple: "image"=>{"file_1"=>#<File:/tmp/CGI344.4>, "file_2"=>"", "file_3"=>""}, so I

sequencially merge multiple files in a folder
Dear all, If the question is too easy, please forgive me since I am only few weeks old in R. I have worked on this question a few days and still cannot figure it out. Here I have a folder with more than 50 tab-delimited files. Each file has a few hundreds of thousands rows/subjects, and the number of columns/variables of each file varies. The 1st row consists of all the variable names. Now I

Accessing list object from within a function as a list element
Hi - I have a list (call it 'mylist') with the following elements: (i) a function (call it 'myfunc' and expressed as 'mylist$myfunc') and (ii) a variable (call it 'myvar' and expressed as 'mylist$myvar'). Since I use mylist as a pseudo-class (I assign mylist to multiple different R objects), I would like to access the mylist R object from within the

recursive scp fails on ReliantUNIX 5.43 (using OpenSSH 3.4p1)
Hi, I have tried to make a recursive scp from a ReliantUNIX machine to an other UNIX machine and got an infinite loop on the source machine. A "normal" scp works well. Also strange is, that the first two letters of the directory respectively file name are missing in the output below. The destination machine produces a directory structure with growing subdirectory names. Below you can

smclient-excludes
Hello, samba-users, I am using Amanda to backup WinNT-shares. Amanda uses smbclient to generate smbtar-archives which it then writes to tape. As you all know there are various files on Windows-system-partitions that don?t need to be on backup. For example stuff like pagefile.sys System Volume Information hiberfil.sys and the registry files. So there is a need to exclude files from getting

Some more win32-changenotify analysis
Hi all, I decided to check the responsiveness of the pure Ruby vs C extension versions of win32-changenotify. I setup this little file generator program: a = [] 10.times{ |n| a << Thread.new{ File.open("File_#{n}", ''w''){ |fh| fh.puts "test #{n}" } } } a.each{ |t| t.join } The pure Ruby version did not do so well. In some cases it

reading fixed width format data with 2 types of lines
Hi, I know how to read fixed width format data with read.fwf, but suddenly I need to read in a large number of old fwf files with 2 types of lines. Lines that begin with "3" in first column carry one set of variables, and lines that begin with "4" carry another set, like this: ? 3A00206546L070049016090045 99 1015002 001001008010004002004007003 001

Overriding a file without causing duplicate definitions
Hello folks. I''ve got a problem that I can''t work out the solution to. My base workstation node definition says essentially: node base-workstation { file { etc-sudoers: name => "/etc/sudoers", ... } } This works fine, all of our workstations get a standardised sudoers file. However, I have one user on a workstation who needs a specialised sudoers file.

What does the shell() command do?
Dear R community, I am trying to understand what the shell() function does. An example is: xfile <- shell(paste("dir/b ", paste(directory.folder,"file.name",sep="")),intern=T) I'm afraid I wasn't able to completely understand the explanation under the Help files. Thanks for your help! Leanne. -- View this message in context:

Boolean expressions
I''m trying to write a wrapper definition for the file type to make it a bit smarter. I have a basic version working fairly well: define xfile($owner = root, $group = root, $mode = 644, $source, $backup = main, $recurse = false, $ensure = file) { file { $name: mode => $mode, owner => $owner, group => $group, backup => $backup, recurse

Application construction issue (conceptual)
I was wondering if someone can give me some assistance in approaching this issue: First, the background: I have an app that i originally did in PHP that I''m redoing in Rails. It can be used by multiple clients that have no relation to each other. The client information is in a database and is determined by the hostname. Clients then have several users related by client_id. The

Best way of moving some jQuery from a view helper
I have a helper that uses some jQuery code that I would like to move out of the helper method. I am trying to move it to application.js but it will probably end up in a different file. I have two reasons for wanting to do this. 1) I want to keep all my jQuery code seperate to my HTML code 2) I want to change the append to an appendTo so I can add a highlight effect, appendTo which is proving

Managing R objects with 'make'
I frequently use Makefiles to manage routine data manipulations and repeated analyses where the "raw" data tend to change with time. With S/Splus, this has worked quite naturally, as long as I'm careful to use S object names that map directly to Unix/Linux filenames. For example, say I'm building a particular graphic (chart.ps) from a data.frame in S (mydata) that comes from an

UNC mapping for the homes section
Hi! Is there any way for the "HOMES" share to be mapped to \\server\whatever\%USERNAME% instead of \\server\%USERNAME% . I think that DFS still don't work fine for linux CIFS mounting. So, if I could do this kind of mapping, this would let me give users now the final UNCs and introduce DFS in a future time (when DFS mounting will be fully supported) without having to disturb
