Can I use guestfish to benchmark qemu performance?
I come across this page libguestfs.org/guestfs-performance.1.html <http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-performance.1.html> This raises my interest. I am currently learning how to benchmark performance qemu. So here is my questions: 1. Can I use guestfish or any tools provided by libguestfs to benchmark qemu? How? (The command I use below is correct or what's the correct command to execute

Re: Guestfish command - "copy-out" not working for symbolic links
This no going to work. AS I told you I need something under guestfish command list not from guestfs commands. Re: Guestfish command - "copy-out" not working for symbolic links
Hi Nikolay, We use guestfish, so I preferred to use commands supported by guestfish. I tried as below but "realpath" is not working after I have the target path from symlink. --> Check if the path has a symlink. is-symlink path Ex. - is-symlink "/etc/resolv.conf" -> return true --> If it's true then get target link path readlink path ex. - readlink

guestfish/libguestfs takes legacy qemu instead of kvm?

There was some still unresolved problem with adding a dependency on KVM: https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/2982 As a result, we have to depend on qemu (software

[0/5] guestfish: detect stdout-write failure
Nearly any program that writes to standard output can benefit from this sort of fix. Without it, running e.g., ./guestfish --version > /dev/full would exit successfully, even though it got ENOSPC when writing to the full device. That means regular output redirected to a file on a full partition may also fail to be written, and the error ignored. Before: $ guestfish --version >

Mounting disk images with ext2 filesystems on RHEL7
Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I don't know if what I am trying to do should work or not. I have 2 disk images. One is a VM with an ext2 boot filesystem and ext4 filesystems with the OS loaded. I am amble to guestmount this with no issue and am able to see the files that are on the ext2 file system. I can also run guestfish on the image, mount the ext2 filesystem, and

guestfish zerofree on LVM ?
Hi- Is it safe to use the zerofree utility on an ext4 partition inside an LVM with guestfish? I know zerofree works on ext4, but I am unsure about LVM. The info page uses the syntax "zerofree <device>", so using the info page example, could I (safely) do something like the following? $ guestfish Welcome to guestfish, the libguestfs filesystem interactive shell for

Hierarchical local mount
Hello everyone! I have to implement the functionality of mounting all VM disks/partitions. E.g. if a VM has 2 disks of 2 partitions each (I get it from virt-filesystems), I want to get the following structure on host node after mount: mnt/ ------hdd0/ -------------volume1/ -------------volume2/ ------hdd1/ -------------volume1/ -------------volume2/ I'd like to use guestmount due to

why I don't have guestfish(executable file) after building form github
I followed the guildline in http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-building.1.htm ./autogen.sh > make But I didn't see any executable file. I only see /fish/guestfish and /bash/guestfish the first one seems like a script.

Re: guestfish Remote Images IPv6 Support
This worked wonderfully!  What are the odds of getting this upstream in the near future?  I'd rather not build from source in production. # ./run guestfish --format=raw --ro -a rbd://[fd00::cefc:1]:6789/images/CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud-1901 libguestfs: trace: set_verbose true libguestfs: trace: set_verbose = 0 libguestfs: trace: set_tmpdir "/root/libguestfs/tmp" libguestfs:

guestfsd process dead while quitting guestfish
I've compiled guestfsd and run it on CentOS 6.3. It worked well, but when I quit guestfish, the guestfsd process in guest is always dead itself automatically. Is this a bug? or did I miss something? thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... NOTE: running ./fish/guestfish etc from build dir without installing
In 1.11.1 / git, I have made some changes to the way that you run guestfish, guestmount and the virt tools from the build directory without installing. Firstly you can't just run ./fish/guestfish or ./fuse/guestmount any more and have those programs magically set LIBGUESTFS_PATH. The automagic code was always error-prone and I have removed it. Secondly, all of the run-*-local scripts have
