WOW patch downloads hang
Latest Wine version, Debian Lenny, fast computer. The previous pre-patch download finally finished (300+ MB in about 4 hours. The current one (about same size) stops at 72% (273 MB). I have "Don't throttle download" checked. Also "peer-to-peer transfer". That sounds like some kind of bit torrent. I don't use that. Because this process appears to be done in Wine, does

Wow says no DirectX
Wine 1.3.37 After patching, tried to start Wow with Wow.exe. Got a dialog box that says I need the latest DirectX Runtime. I have 'winecfg' set to XP and Blizzard says that means ver. 9.0c, which, I read somewhere, is what Wine has completed and uses by default. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I may have. What now?

Wow! Double wow!
I'm running CentOS 6 (6.5 iirc) on my wife's machine, which I've been updating pretty much every day. Today yum got 425 packages! Somewhere a dam must have broken. Sometimes some of us don't appreciate how much work the developers do. Strength to their arms, and many heartfelt thanks! -- Beartooth Staffwright, Not Quite Clueless Power User Remember I know little (precious

Wow, virt-managerin Centos5 is very fussy!
If I tell it to use an NFS source (eg nfs://server/mnt/cdrom) then itin Centos5 tries to do a CIFS mount instead (I can see it running mount.cifs and in the xterm I ran virt-manager from it then asks for a password). Wow. If I tell it to use an lvm2 volume (/dev/VolGroup00/xentest - already created at 1Gb) then it goes through, calculates the amount of space required etc etc and then barfs with

WoW 3.0.2.9056 Issues
Hi All, First off I want to say a big thank you for your great effort in producing Wine, my hats off to the developers. I have Ubuntu 8.0.4.1 64bit edition and I have Wine 1.1.7 installed. I have noticed that when I play WoW, it appears that the keyboard buffer becomes full and my character goes off on his own. Sometime I can control it using the left, right and back keys, other times off it

Re: Wine + WoW + Debian unstable amd64 :?
Your /media/sata1 partition is probably mounted noexec. If that is a Windows partition, you should install World of Warcraft to your Linux account by using Wine to run the installer. Changing the mount options for that partition will get you past this error, but you are likely to have other problems if you run programs from a windows filesystem and do not install them in Wine.

WoW using d3d
Sharing this in case it is helpful to any other WoW players with the opengl issues or to anyone working on d3d in Wine. I've been trying World of Warcraft without the -opengl tag since Blizzard introduced their latest round of opengl breaking updates. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the game both playable and stable in d3d. I still have a couple graphical issues but they are not

EULA won't let me agree when installing WoW via wine.
Trying to install World of Warcraft on ubuntu 8.10, with the most recent version of wine, and I get to the end user license agreement, scroll all the way down, and I can't click agree on it to continue with installation. I'm using the download game client feature from my account on WorldofWarcraft.com, not the game CD's because I have a broken CD drive. If that helps any.
