Problems with DvdFab
First, I'm brand new to Linux and Wine, but I'm fed up with Windows and all the problems that come along with it. So far, Ubuntu 11.04 has met all my needs except one. I need a program to shrink DVDs to 4gb to fit on a single layer disc. I tried the native Linux programs (K9, Dvd95), but they didn't work well (K9 took over an hour, and wouldn't work unless I chose to shrink the

X11 error while plotting in R on OSX
I installed R 2.14.1 on a OSX 10.7.2 computer using MacPorts. If I fire up R on a terminal, this very simple session gives me errors. I attach sessionInfo() details as well. In addition to the warnings, I also do not get any plots on the X11 window after the warnings. So one cannot just ignore the warnings since the plots don't work anymore after this. I guess one could try to avoid this by

retrieving ActiveResource validation errors on attributes
So, this is probably a usage error... but I hope somebody knows how to make this work. I''m trying to use a RESTful ActiveResource client and print the attribute validation errors for model attributes during an update operation. I''ve been following one of the threads, and am returning a response from the server as follows: format.xml { render :xml => m.to_xml, :status =>

Problem Running DVDFab
I'm trying to run DVDFab 8.1.7.6 (latest version according to the website) on Ubuntu 11.10 and it seems to install fine but when I try to open it, either through clicking the exe or through the console, nothing happens. The Wine db says DVDFab is platinum so I'm a bit confused. Printout from trying to run in console: Code: josh at josh-laptop:~$ wine start 'C:\Program Files\DVDFab 8

Window isn't readrawn after beeing in background
Hi, I've already made a bug out of this: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25160 but it seems only to happen for me. I've asked others, e.g. the other test-result-submitter for Black Prophecy, no one has the same problem. So I think it's somehow related to my own wine-settings. I'm using gentoo with openbox and wine-1.3.7, the following configure: Code: ./configure

Problem running BBC Doctor Who game in Linux Mint Debian
Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 Laptop running 64bit Linux Mint Debian Edition 201109. The laptop has ATI Radeon M92 (HD 4500 / 5000) graphics. This is based on Debian testing and because at present there is no WINE in the testing repositories, I have installed 1.3.30 from: http://frickelplatz.de/debian/ This seems to work fine: I can run LTspiceIV perfectly. However ... I have tried

[ANNOUNCE] libXi 1.2.99.2
libXi is moving fast, and having tarballs can make it easier on testers. So here it is, the first libXi tarball including XI2. Changelog below includes all changes since the bump from the stable 1.2 branch. Note that libXi is not stable yet in regards to the XI2 API. Building PHP PECL modules
I'm attempting to build some PECL modules on fully updated CentOS 4.2 system. Preferably pack them into nice RPM packages. However, seems I'm missing something. For example, this is what I get for sqlite module: $ pear makerpm SQLite-1.0.3.tgz `phpize' failed The php-devel package is installed (so I do have phpize command). It's just that it is failing. If I unpack the

getting X started...
I've got a new VM installed for me by a sysadmin who apparently did a minmal install. As a result I've installed a bunch of things to try to get X going, including yum groupinstall "development and creative workstation", "Desktop platform" "mate desktop" but so far I've not found the incantation to get it to start up X at boot time. As far as I can

Wow! Double wow!
I'm running CentOS 6 (6.5 iirc) on my wife's machine, which I've been updating pretty much every day. Today yum got 425 packages! Somewhere a dam must have broken. Sometimes some of us don't appreciate how much work the developers do.
