Trouble installing packages with Winetricks
Hi all. I know I posted a similar topic before, but I think it's necessary to re-formulate the problem since it has taken a different wider focus. I'm trying to make some of my Windows apps to work on Linux which used to work quite well with Wine back when I had openSUSE 11.1 last year. Right now I'm focusing in one called DBabble. Back in 11.1 I used Wine Doors to download libraries

/var/wine not owned by you
In an effort to set up a system-wide wine folder, I have moved mine to /var/wine, set WINEPREFIX to /var/wine for all users, and changed the permissions for /var/wine and it's contents to root:wine rwxr-xr-x. The wine registry and the savegame directories for my games have g+w as well. I am a member of the wine group. When I attempt to run wine, I get the error message "wine: /var/wine

File association in wine
Hello everybody, i've made a little script that associates every extension known by linux in wine, unless the extension isn't already associated to some other program. So you can doubleclick on a file from winefile and have it opened with the corresponding linux application. It's a quick and dirty script that generates a .reg file, it isn't freedesktop compliant, i am a KDE and

OpenSUSE packages
Hello guys, Nouveau's OpenSUSE Build packages have broken dependences. It seems that now it demands xorg>=7.5 but the avaiable in opensuse 11.2 (current version) is 7.4. As there is no xorg-7.5 compiled for 11.2, I'm running vesa driver by now. I guess that a hint on download page could be useful. Cheers, --- Luiz Angelo Daros de Luca, Me. luizluca at gmail.com

question about WINEPREFIX
I wanted to ask to the wine experts something about WINEPREFIX or the crossover bottles... how does the concept of "bottles" compares/differs with the concept of application virtualization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_Virtualization) used by VMware's Thinstall (http://www.thinstall.com/products/virtualization_suite.php) (aside for the .exe container*) and

Problem: enable multiuser wine
Hallo, folks, in openSuSE 12.1, I installed wine from the Wine CVS Builds repository. I knew it would work perfectly as of my experience on 11.4. In the end, it does! BUT I tried a different thing - it does run the programme, but only for one user! To get the programmes installed under WINE working for every user (one single laptop, different accounts), I tried the following recommendation

missing symbols talloc_* (opensuse 11.4/samba 3.5.7-xxx)
I just recently upgraded to opensuse 11.4. basic smbd is running mostly fine (some name res-errors, login server missing, (can't connect to Domain service). Notably nmbd won't start due to undefined symbols: /usr/sbin/nmbd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/nmbd: undefined symbol: _talloc_realloc_array. ldd -r shows a bunch of similar undefined symbols (shown further below). my samba rpm

Pre-downloaded Wine Gecko Installer?
Hi, I've been doing a lot of testing in isolated WINEPREFIX environments. So, I'm constantly creating new .wine folders and having to run winecfg to set them up. Well, each time I do this, I have to watch the Wine Gecko Installer progress bar, and sometimes it can be slow (like if my internet connection is bogged up). I wish I could keep a local copy that WINE would pull instead of

ALSA Drivers not detected in openSUSE 11.1.
I have made a fresh installation of openSUSE 11.1 x86_64. I compiled WINE from source (newest dev version) and I only have one problem and that is that in the sound tab of the winecfg app, I can only see the OSS driver and not the ALSA driver. What could be causing this? :? I'm using "MCP55 High Definition Audio" which is the on-board audio device. The sound seems to be working

regapi with global registry
Hi, I have a global windows fake tree, which every user in the group "wine" can access. However I got a problem dealing with new applications installed. When a user (any user, even root) installs an application, the registry entries goes to $HOME/.wine/*.reg . This also means that other users will not be able to use it because of the missing registry entries. I use the regSet.sh,

Obviously you can't have source directory as the wineprefix. But, in this case I must to install gecko, fonts, dcom and other libs everywhere I use a different wine version, isn't it?
