Fencing a Dell T110 II
I think I know the answer to this question based on all of the research I've done, but figured I'd ask anyway. I needed a couple of servers for an HA cluster, and our "order" guy here ordered me a couple of Dell PowerEdge T110 II. I'd planned on using IPMI to fence these things with, but later found out that this model is only one of two PE servers Dell sells that has a

Duplicated packages in CR repo?
Hi all, during upgrades of my systems via spacewalk and the continuous release repository, I encountered a problem with the rsyslog packages. It seems that the last update was build twice. Once with a correct name and once with a broken one (missing dot in the name before el6). On CR-repo mirrors: rsyslog-4.6.2-3.el6_1.4.x86_64.rpm 19-Oct-2011 13:04 rsyslog-4.6.2-3el6_1.4.x86_64.rpm

extended search
Hello, is it safe to use arg_new_human_date() from src/lib-storage/mail-search-register-human.c instead of arg_new_date() inside src/lib-storage/mail-search-register-imap.c? The benefit is ability to use interval based search rules, e.g., SINCE 2days. I run it for couple of days and looks fine, used for virtual folders. This kind of search I missed for usage on laptop - I have pretty huge

help to speed up loops in r
Hi i am using a script which involves the following loop. It attempts to reduce a data frame(zz) of 95000 * 41 down to a data frame (averagedreplicates) of 95000 * 21 by averaging the replicate values as you can see in the script below. This script however is very slow (2days). Any suggestions to speed it up. NB I have also tried using rowMeans rather than adding the 2 values and dividing by 2.

FastAGI problems
Hello! I use FastAGI very frequently [meaning 30 channels IVR is made in it] and sometimes I find, that there is a message like: Jul 29 09:38:55 VERBOSE[896] logger.c: == Auto fallthrough, channel 'Local/1@route-out-eeae,2' status is 'CHANUNAVAIL' Jul 29 09:38:55 VERBOSE[893] logger.c: > Channel Local/1@route-out-eeae,1 was never answered. identd on "clients"
Hi, I use shorewall on my router (internal ip: 192.168.1.4). The router is used as a gateway for my lan. If I try to access an IRC server from any "client" (for exaples 192.168.1.1) I get the message "no identd". I tried the following in my shorewall rules config (etc/shorewall/rules), but i doesn''t work: ACCEPT net loc tcp 113

glm with variance = mu+theta*mu^2?
How might you fit a generalized linear model (glm) with variance = mu+theta*mu^2 (where mu = mean of the exponential family random variable and theta is a parameter to be estimated)? This appears in Table 2.7 of Fahrmeir and Tutz (2001) Multivariate Statisticial Modeling Based on Generalized Linear Models, 2nd ed. (Springer, p. 60), where they compare "log-linear model fits to

Pls help: netfront tx ring frozen (any clues appreciated)
Hi, We are running into a situation where rsp_prod index in the shared ring is not getting updated for the netfront tx ring by the netback. We see that rsp_cons is the same value as rsp_prod, with req_prod 236 slots away(tx ring is full). From looking at the netfront driver code, it looks as if xennet_tx_buf_gc processing only happens if rsp_prod is more than rsp_cons. Our

glm-logistic on discrete-time methods with individual and aggregated data
Dear R-Users, without going into details I tried to prepare a simple example to show you where I would need help. In particular I prepare two examples-template for a study I'm conduction on discrete-time methods for survival analysis. Each of this example has two datasets which are basically equal, with the exception that in the former one has individual data and in the latter one aggregated

login reporting (utmp?) problem on Linux
I have recently compiled and installed openssh-2.1.1p1 on a linux box. The login reporting does not seem to work properly. When logging into the box via ssh (protocol 1) utmp shows the user logged in and the tty properly, but the field for the login date/time and the field for originating host contain all NULLs. Is anyone else seeing this same behavior, or have I just done something really

glm with a distribution free family
Dear R users, I am trying to fit a glm with a distribution free family, link = log and variance = constant*mu. I guess I have to use the quasi family but the choices of variance are restricted to constant or mu or mu^2..., I don't know the way to choose the variance that I need, i.e. constant*mu. If you have any ideas or advice, please tell me. Thanks, Laetitia Mestdagh Laetitia Mestdagh

spatial probit/logit for prediction
Hello all, I am wondering if there is a way to do a spatial error probit/logit model in R? I can't seem to find it in any of the packages. I can do it in MATLAB with Gibbs sampling, but would like to confirm the results. Ideally I would like to use this model to predict probability of parcel conversion in a future time period. This seems especially difficult in a binary outcome model

produce a map in ARCGIS from a GAM output
Hi, I am trying to predict the habitat suitability of lobster with GAMs. I need to produce a map in ArcGis of the predicted densities. I did some search and the function predict.gam seems to do the job. Is this the right way to do it? when you apply the function you get the predicted values (different from your input data points) but I do not understand what is the procedure with the spatial
