Windows Media Player Crashes
I installed windows media player 9 with winetricks. It worked but no sound. I tried downloading and installing WMP10 and now it will briefly open like 2 secs and then disappear. It does this every time i try to open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WMP9 but it also does this open and crash now. I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and was using wine 1.3 but went back to 1.2 thinking that may have

Vorbis in Windows Media Player 9, (partial) success
As I said on http://wiki.xiph.org/ClientSupport I managed to get WMP9 under Windows 2003 to work with OGG vorbis files. Requisite : OggDS 0.9.9.5 - they can be opened with the Open... dialog and WMP does not complain any more that it is an unsupported file format - they can be dragged from explorer into WMP and WMP will play them without any complaint - they can be added to the media library.

Ogg support in Windows Media Player 9 and WMP Media Library
Greetings all, I've got some questions and news (I think) regarding the Ogg DirectShow filter, and Ogg support in Windows Media Player and the WMP Media Library. The OggDS that's in CVS -- is there any reason it's only at the 0.9.9.3 level and not the 0.9.9.5 level that's on Tobias's webpage? After downloading the 0.995 version and digging through the Windows Media

IceCast 2.2 MP3 stream and Real Player noise
I tested it this morning and here are my findings: 1) The Intro tag causes Real Player to give an error that the stream "contains unexpected data and may be corrupt". It does not play with the Intro tag in the mount point. If I remove the Intro tag the stream plays, and, the Real Player noise caused by meta-data is gone and the meta-data updates work. 2) The Intro plays in iTunes and

Windows Media Player
I'm having a problem with WMP and icecast 2.2.0. When people try to connect it buffers the feed really slow and people never go get audio. I've tried connecting over the LAN and it does the same thing. Open http:/scanner.weatherserver.net/live in media player and you will see what I am talking about. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Weather @

Ogg Media Player
What is the best (preferable open source) media player for oggs? I'm on windows, and Windows Media Player is the best thing I can seem to find. I've looked at WinAmp, QCD, Sonique, and FreeAmp, and they just don't seem to have the media library functionality WMP has. Is there another player out there I'm missing? Chris

Vorbis streams on Windows Media Player
I was under the impression that Tobias's Direct Show filters would allow Windows Media player to play Ogg Vorbis streams, but after testing it here, apparently it doesn't. Does anyone know if there is anyway of making WMP play vorbis streams? The company I'm involved with who will be creating thousands of internet stations will most likely need WMP to play the streams, since it is

Hi, First post, so please be nice ; ) I am trying to set my linux vlc as default media player for wine. I am trying to do that because i use a software called TVAnts to tune tv channels and I would like to skip one step of the process which is starting vlc or any other media player and point it to the address of the stream. something like: $ vlc http://localhost:16900/1.asf As I understand

Someone submitted a bug about wav49 voicemail problems with the Windows Media Player here http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000254 bkw918 changed the status of the bug to resolved because he could not reproduce the error with his version of Windows Media Player. [Flac-users] FLAC Plug-in for Windows Media Player?
I was wondering if there is a FLAC plugin for Windows Media Player? Just from doing web-searches, it doesn't look like there is, at least as far as I can tell. So, if there isn't a plug-in for WMP, well, why isn't there? And is there anyone working on one?

So, if there isn't a plug-in for WMP, well, why isn't there? And is there anyone working on one? I'm a programmer, though I've never done any WMP programming. But, I would think it wouldn't be too hard to do a

Windows Media under Wine?
Hello folks! First of all, I want to say that I am very statisfied of the Wine project. It's a very nice program, very stable and and fast for most common applications and/or games and is developing very fast. As an ex-user of Cedega, i'm very happy to have my Windows-games and -apps running under Linux using free software (and without paying a cent :P). But there are still a few
