Quicken 2000 install fails with insufficient temp disk space
I'm a newbie to WINE. I'm running WINE 0.0.20050211-1 with kernel 2.6.10 and the Debian distribution. I CD to /cdrom and issue the command wine install.exe and the Quicken 2000 install starts. I immediately get a message from Quicken that there is insufficient temp space to perform the install. I have no clue about how to proceed. If someone has a HOWTO to get Quicken 2000 working, that

cdrom access does not work "as before" in wine-1.0.1 ?
Hello list, Although i read posts related to cdrom access with wine in the forum and did configure wine the way it is told, i still cannot reach a cdrom image with wine-1.0.1. However, i could with older versions of wine. Here is the config: # mount -o loop -t iso9660 /path/to/bar-cdrom.iso /media/cdrom $ ls /media/cdrom [stuff listed from the bar-cdrom.iso, read as normal user] $ winecfg [

How to burn a CD using libvirt?
Hi, My first e-mail... my apologies if this is not the appropriate e-mail list. My goal is to *write* from the guest OS to a CD or DVD reader/writer on my host system. Currently, the write operation is failing. I believe it is because the virtual CD-ROM device is set to be "readonly". Is it possible to write to a QEMU CDROM device and, if so, how? (The host machine's CD-ROM

Re: Wine and Quicken
Will give it a try. However the winetricks did allow that part of the program to run. It now freezes at the point you try to register the program. It would not respect the wine internet explorer, so i used winetricks to do the fake, then to actually install ie6. Ie6 is missing the menu bar. It also does not repond properly to Quicken's attempt to register the program. Without being able

CD Burning with Wine?
Hello, I just got WINE running under FreeBSD and I was wondering if anyone has had success getting CD burning programs to work. Specifically, I would like to use CloneCD. I can use cdrecord / burncd to make data cd's and backups and the like, but a disk-at-once program is best (IMO) for copying audio cd's. And, unfortunately, there aren't any dao programs that support EIDE drives

ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin, after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects (ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did make that cd bootable. Now I understand it a bit. As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out. However, upon booting I get a beautiful

Problems with Wine on Debian
Hello all, I am fairly new to Linux, so I hope that the following problem is not just me being ... new to Linux. I have been trying to install Wine on Debian (Etch 4.09 I think it is called). I first tried to use the apt-get install Wine command followed by the winecfg (creating the .wine folder), but when I tried to run the notepad.exe (i.e. with the command wine

CDROM detect failed
Hi, I was trying to install an old Sierra game called Lighthouse. It used to fail completely under old versions of Wine and I got a request to try it again. I am doing this on a Gentoo 64-bit machine but Wine is a 32-bit app on this machine: mark at lightning ~ $ file /usr/bin/wine /usr/bin/wine: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, dynamically linked

Can wine change short date format?
Since I updated to Ubuntu 8.04 yesterday I have lost the UK short date format DDMMYYYY and am having a real problem setting it system wide. (I now have the US MMDDYYYY format.) Ubuntu 8.04 appears to ignore the LANG="en_GB.UTF-8" line in etc/environment which fixed the issue in 7.10. The apps I run on wine all use the short date format so here is my question. Is it possible to make wine

Using CD drives with Xen 3.0.3 on CentOS 4.4
I''d like to be able to use a CD drive on the Dom0 to be accessible on the DomU systems. I do see some notes involving cdrom drives in the Xen 3.1 Enterprise notes, and in the VT notes, but not for systems without that on-board virtualization feature. And the syntax of the cdrom command options are documented nowhere in 3.0.3. I found completely useless notes at

About md5sum
Hi all, A friend of mine gives me a copy of Centos5 DVD. I then make an iso of it using dd if=/dev/cdrom of=centos5.iso command. I then check it using sha1sum. But the result is different than of listed in Centos website. Should it the same? Or we simply cannot compare sha1sum from burned DVD to that of 'unburned' iso file? Position of boot.cat
I've found with one of my collegue a strange "bug" when I'm using isolinux. I know that we are using a modified isolinux 1.76 but I'd like to know if some of you knows the reason of this. We've found that if boot.cat is located at position 740 or 569 (isoinfo -i) the cdrom is not detected are bootable on some drives whereas it works on some others. We've checked

HVM Linux just installed but does not do its first boot
Just successfully installed SLES9.3-32bit as file-backended HVM domU. Everything went OK, the distributive partitioned its "harddisk" into root and swap OK, have its grub installed into sda boot sector, but I could not make to boot no one single first time after installation. Every domU boot gives the following screen for a short time and dies: Booting from Hard Disk... Boot from

Relocating WINE prefix
On my system, I have the wine prefix installed in the default location (/home/username/.wine). However, I goofed when I was installing linux, and my home partition is very small compared to the root partition. I tried repartitioning it with a livecd, but it said that the volume was "locked" or something like that. Anyways, I only have about 2 gigs of space left on my home partition,

Wine and Quicken
Hello Wine-users, I am seeking info on running Quicken under Wine. Any and all feedback will be appreciated. OS: rh 7.2 installed as client not server. If a wine solution is not available I am open to anything that runs under Linux. Thanks.
