OpenVZ variant
Greetings, I was reading the LWN article from today (free to non-subscribers next Thursday). Here's a subscriber link for those who might want to see it now: CentOS and Red Hat - http://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/592723/485ea802859f6c36/ I saw that Xen was mentioned as an area where CentOS went beyond RHEL with CentOS 6... and being that I'm deeply in the OpenVZ community, I thought it

lwn reports the Samba team could use coders and documenters
I read in todays (July 9, 1998) edition of the Linux Weekly News that "the Samba team could use coders, documenters and packagers as a result of a temporary dip in the volunteer resources available to them (caused by an unfortunate set of co-incidences, though we haven't heard the details yet)." and "This has slowed the Samba effort a bit." [PATCH v2 0/2] vhost, docs: convert to pin_user_pages(), new "case 5"
This is based on Linux 5.7, plus one prerequisite patch: "mm/gup: update pin_user_pages.rst for "case 3" (mmu notifiers)" [1] Changes since v1: removed references to set_page_dirty*(), in response to Souptick Joarder's review (thanks!). Cover letter for v1, edited/updated slightly: It recently became clear to me that there are some get_user_pages*() callers that

[PATCH 0/2] vhost, docs: convert to pin_user_pages(), new "case 5"
Hi, It recently became clear to me that there are some get_user_pages*() callers that don't fit neatly into any of the four cases that are so far listed in pin_user_pages.rst. vhost.c is one of those. Add a Case 5 to the documentation, and refer to that when converting vhost.c. Thanks to Jan Kara for helping me (again) in understanding the interaction between get_user_pages() and page

Broadening of ZFS open source license
In the article about MeeGo: http://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/387196/103bbafc9266fd0d/ it is stated, that Oracle (together with RedHat) contributes a bulk part of BTRFS development. Given that ZFS and BTRFS both share many similar goals, wouldn''t it be reasonable for Oracle to license ZFS under wider range of FOSS licenses (similar to how Mozilla released their code under triple license,

Bye bye Mr tmem guy
Hi Linux kernel folks and Xen folks -- Effective July 5, I will be resigning from Oracle and "retiring" for a minimum of 12-18 months and probably/hopefully much longer. Between now and July 5, I will be tying up loose ends related to my patches but also using up accrued vacation days. If you have a loose end you''d like to see tied, please let me know ASAP and I will do my

Unicorn and HAProxy, 500 Internal errors after checks
Hi, This morning, while checking for a correct deployment, we found out that the Unicorns we are using were sending 500 Internal errors very frequently to the HAProxy that sits in front of them. After some investigation, It turned out that HAProxy checks the backend by opening and closing a connection to the unicorn. Unfortunately the Unicorns we use ( v 0.990.0 ) will try to reply to this probe

Chromium browser for C6
I found this bug fix report http://lwn.net/Articles/616130/ I thought we were not able to get Chromium for C6. Apparently it looks like the work has been already done. Is it possible we (hi Johnny) can get this package into C6? This would be a wonderful addition to CentOS 6. Please and thank you.
