mod_auth_ntlm_winbind SSO
Hello We are trying to implement SSO with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind. We followed the instructions on [1], but have the issue that users can not authenticate with web browsers. In addition to that document we did the following extra steps: - chown root:winbind /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged/ - apache user (vagrant) is in group winbind - net setauthuser -U vagrant - smb.conf has: winbind use

What could cause an "unclean shutdown" of process?
Hello everyone, I've been experiencing many problems recently with windows software parsing large text files stored on a samba share (smb version 3.6.3 on ubuntu12.04). The software, which are running on windows XP stations, are crashing quite often. I notice this in the log.smbd at the time of the crash: [2012/08/28 17:25:21.980609, 3] smbd/server.c:629(smbd_parent_housekeeping) Printcap

3.0.1rc2 LDAP - problems joining domain
Hi, I'm back on the list ;-) I seem to be having some trouble getting W2K machines to join the domain in 3.0.1rc2. I haven't looked at this in detail since 2.2.8a but it looks like the account gets created in LDAP and then it has trouble setting the password appropriately. I believe this is the relevant part of the log: api_rpcTNP: samr op 0x3a - api_rpcTNP: rpc command:

Intermittent Win7 trust issues
With samba 4 <-> win7 (* or win8-10) trust issues. Then you have a few things to check Start with checking if your time is in sync. Check the windows even log, for errors, look them up. If its a "bootcamp-ed" windows 7 install ( aka on a imac ), boot in apple, update bootcamp. Last, if you used an imaged windows 7, did you forgot to sysprep maybe? And correct, samba 3.x was

Intermittent Win7 trust issues
Hello list! I'm trying to debug a problem that surfaced after a Samba upgrade from v3.5.x to v4.1.17. The problem is that Win7 workstations appear to randomly experience domain trust issues logging in, although they can log in some times, they are unsuccessful at other times. I cannot so far predict what would result in or influence this behaviour. These are workstations on which

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

Unable to access printers
Hi All, Since updating a from 3.0.1-2 to 3.0.2-1 a few weeks back I've been unable to print. I checked all the obvios settings, but as they had been working perfectly for some time prior was not surprised to find the configuration was correct. The authentication is configured via winbind to a 2000 ADS PDC. security = DOMAIN I've since updated again to 3.0.2-2 and found the issue

PDC + LDAP, cannot access LDAP when not root
I'm using Debian Sarge, Samba (3.1.14a) with the ldapsam backend, and OpenLDAP (2.2.23). When attempting to join an Windows XP+SP2 computer (BILLGATES) to my domain (WORKGROUP), using the Administrator account, I am told by windows: 'Access denied.' The logs (attached) seem to indicate that the user Administrator is being authenticated (which would have? to use LDAP), but when It

werr_access_denied when running setdriver for a printer
Hi all, I'm getting WERR_ACCESS_DENIED error for some of the printers when running setdriver printer_name printer_driver as part of the cupsaddsmb step. Weirdly, it works for some printers, and never works for others, while all the printers have the same settings. Samba 3.5.20 with CUPS 1.5.4. Does this part of log give any clue of why could this happen? function print_access_check() --

Questions about some Ethereal/log output and spoolss
My user observable errors seem to now be gone but I am seeing some behavior that may need to be looked at. There are error messages in Ethereal and in the logs like "_spoolss_getprinterdataex: Invalid keyname [DsDriver]". First I'll give the brief history and then more details below. I started a new install on FreeBSD 5.1 using samba 2.2.8. I compiled with CUPS (1.1.19). Printer is

Ipv6 printing not happening in win7
Hi all, IPV6 printing is not happening with samba-3.6.x in win7 but the same works on win8 onwords. Why smb_create is calling many times? Because of this file-size getting zero-length. With ipv4-everything works fine. [2014/04/26 12:14:28.867903, 10] printing/printing.c:568(print_job_find) print_job_find: returning system job -1 for jobid 868269967. [2014/04/26 12:14:28.868096, 1]

Samba 3.0.2 PDC Setup: cannot join W2k machine - SAMR_SET_USERINFO fails
Okay, this is near the end of a marathon day trying to get this linux machine up and running as a PDC. At this point I am unable to get a Windows 2K machine to join the domain, it responds with "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". Samba log shows the following: rpc_server/srv_samr_nt.c: _samr_set_userinfo(2937) _samr_set_userinfo: 2937

W2K RAS Server in Samba 3.0.0 Domain
We set up a DialIn W2K SP4 member server in our Samba 3.0.0 domain. When a client dials in the RAS server complains: Error 930: The authentication server did not respond to authentication requests in a timely fashion. I tracked down the RAS logfile IASSAM.LOG: [576] 18:30:34:921: NT-SAM Names handler received request with user identity root. [576] 18:30:34:921: Prepending default domain.

Where is this rid coming from?
Repeat background from previous posts: I'm using a Debian woody based system (partially upgraded to 'testing' in order to use tls with ldap), with samba_2.2.7 source built by debian/rules with LDAP turned on, using gcc 3.0.4, libldap2-tls_2.0.23-14, and libldap2_2.0.23-14. I'm setting up PDC service -- when I try to join a windows machine (this is XP) to the domain, I get
