Usin ISO Linux & Memdisk to create a Viritual Floppy drive that Linux & Windows can load driver disk from.
Hi, It is becoming a bad habit for big OEM vendors to sell computers & servers without floppy drives. Unfortunatly both Windows and Linux (RedHat) need a floppy drive to load storage drivers etc. during installation. This is what I was thinking: Use ISOLINUX and MEMDISK to load a floppy image of a driver disk into memory as a viritual floppy drive "A:"/"/dev/fda" And then

Memdisk large IMA file
Does someone know where I could get my hands on an ima that's larger than 2.88meg... I use winimage for all my ima's and stuff but i'm having trouble configuring a custom size. If anyone has a large ima I could utilize that would be great, preferably one fitting this memdisk supported size: 3,932,160 bytes (3840K) c=80 h=2 s=48 3.5" DSED (extended) If not instructions on making

USB Thumbdrive + dos ghost boot image + drive too small = confusion
I will really hate myself if this has already been solved, i searched the archives but didn't really find anything pertaining to it. I have a 2.88mb dos boot floppy image, with ghost.exe, dos nic drivers, and dos system files. It works fine when burnt to a cd. As for the thumbdrive when trying to configure this hpghost.ima file to run from my syslinux.cfg menu, it works and boots up fine but

P2V challenge that demands some creativity
Here is a P2V challenge I could use some advice with. I have a source Windows 2003 physical machine that was upgraded several years ago from Windows 2000. So its system is at C:\WINNT instead of C:\Windows. The target is a RHEV VM. Booting the source machine from the virt-p2v CD and trying virt-p2v-server fails apparently because the Windows directory is c:\WINNT. What about the

Odd question: memdisk emulate multiple drives?
Is it possible to have memdisk emulate multiple drives? Here's why I'm asking: I have a Dell server that I replaced the motherboard. I want to reset the service tag to the correct tag for the system, and the only way to do that is to run a Dell tool under DOS. I have downloaded the tool, but it is doubly-wrapped: a self-extracting ZIP file (which I unzipped under Linux) which contains a

CentOS6 virtio?
Are there any updated instructions for installing Windows virtio drivers on a KVM Windows XP vm under CentOS6? The virtio .iso directory structure is slightly different from what is described in the RHEL6 virtualisation manual, and when I attempt to install e.g. the viostor driver, the device manager cannot find anything better than what is already installed. I tried each of the

Large disk image boot. Any suggestions?
Hello, I am managing 15 separate boot disks with various network disk images. These disk images are used for network installs of Windows OS's. Basically the network boot disk contains dos, the network drive in question and the connection information to the shared server for doing a ghost install. The problem is the 1.44 disk doesn't hold enough space to accomplish the job. What I

How to load an ISO as a “CD” to satisfy “insert CD” prompt?
I am trying to run my own legal copy of Propellerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) Reason 2.5 through Wine on latest Ubuntu on Asus (http://www.asus.com/) netbook, which has no optical drive. When the application starts, it asks me to ?Please insert the CD?, which I thought I knew how to do because after all, I had to mount the one of the three ISOs to start the installation. I run this
