Win2K8 as DC in a samba4 environment
Good morning.
At this moment we run a samba4 domain with five linux DC under 4.1.7
version. However, due to some poor designed apps our LDAP is suffering a
lot of querys that raises CPU at 100% for minutes. Performance is poor
and we think that a native Windows native DC would not suffer this
problem due to a better index management and/or optimization at LDAP
service.
So, the question is,

CentOS5 w winbind samba integrated w Win2k8 AD
Is anyone out there using CentOS5 integrated correctly with a Windows 2008
domain so that active directory authentication can be used for samba
shares? I have tried the newer RPM's from SERNET up to 3.5 and 3.6 without
any luck. The usual behavior is wbinfo returns the active directory users
and groups but 'getent passwd' only returns local users. I also tried
compiling samba from

GPLPV Issues on Win2k8 Server
Hello Xen Users,
i''m having difficulties installing the latest signed Version of the
gplpv drivers for windows. After uninstalling them i had to go to
windows setup to import the OS registry and remove the upperfilter stuff
that was left, as well as the services and so on. Now once I install
them again, the devices (net and pci) show up in the device manager, but

Re: win2k8 guest and (strange) number of cpus task manager sees
Windows has limits on the number of CPUs it can use based on the license
level you have (Standard, Enterprise, etc). You need to present the
CPUs as two physical CPUs with multiple cores to get around this.

win2k8 guest and (strange) number of cpus task manager sees
hi everybody
a qemu-kvm guest gets 16 cpus and Windows in "Device
Manager" sees all sixteeen
but "Task Manager" shows only 4, the same "System"
properties say "(4 processors)"
I'd like to learn a bit about this - is it some sort of
"resources management" on the libvirt/qemu causing this? And
what does it do to a guest performance-wise

Can''t boot HVM Win2k8 R2 x64 DVD ISO (Viridian?)
Hi all,
I''m stuck with a peculiar problem. I have CentOS 5.5 and Xen. I have
numerous Windows 2003 guests and never had this problem. An application
requires SQL server 2008 which is requiring Windows Server 2008. I
downloaded the 2.8 Gig install DVD ISO. I create a new guest and
connect the ISO as hdc. The system starts and says "Starting Windows"
but hangs and no

GPLPV driver problems with Win2k8-R2
Hi all,
after installing the driver ( I used the Vista-2008-Debug version) and
rebooting, the system presents me an interface for recovering the OS using
an image.
I use Xen 3.3.1
Is there a workaround?
Thanks and regards,
Francesco Gallo

search for string insider a string
Hi, sorry if it is a too stupid question, but how do I a string search
in R:
I have a dataframe A with A$test like:
test1
bcdtestblabla2.1bla
cdtestblablabla3.88blabla
and I want to search for string that start with 'dtest' and ends with
number and return the location of that substring and the number, so the
end result would be:
NA NA
3 2.1
2 3.88

passing "..." arguments to a function called by eval()
Hi everyone,
I am starting learn to call C code from within R. So far, I've been
trying toy problems to see if I can get them to work. One of the things
I'd like to do is pass an arbitrary R function to C, evaluate the value
in the C code using eval, and then return it. I also want to allow an
arbitrary number of arguments to the function using "...".
The code for my toy

Error when using fitdist function in R
Hello everyone,
I was trying to do some distribution fitting with a numerical field called
Tolls. The sample size = 999 rows.
Basically I assigned the Toll data to a new variable K by doing:
k<-dtest$Toll
After that, tried to fit a gamma distribution by doing: fitG<-fitdist(k,
"gamma")
Then the following messages showed (oh and I checked for empty rows before
doing this):

sweep?
I am having a hard time understanding just what 'sweep' does. The documentation states:
Return an array obtained from an input array by sweeping out a summary statistic.
So what does it mean "weeping out a summary statistic"?
Thank you.

Hello,
I am using smbspool and I seem to be getting an error that I can't find
a solution to. I checked Google, Usenet and the samba archives. I seem
to find people with the problem, but no answer. When I try to use the
smbspool program, I get the following error:
