Unfound objects in function
A couple of my functions that were working last week seem to have been changed over the weekend and no longer work, but I can't understand why not: it seems that objects defined at the start of the function are not located further on in the function, when this worked fine before. An example follows at the end, using the package spatstat, though the problem seems more general. My only guess is

I got a question that needs guidance
Hello, my name is Philippe. I'm not quite sure i'm asking the right place for this kind of question, but here it goes anyway. I installed OpenBSD 2.9 not too long ago and installed samba on it. Hello, I''m new to rails and I''m trying to wrap my heads around how to spec controllers using RSpec (using rails 3rc1 and rspec 2.0.0.beta.19). The problem I''ve run into is when I want to test that my controllers respond with a 404 for unfound records. Whenever I run the spec, the ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound exception is not caught by rails, causing the spec

Hi, I'm interested from where Centos gets the source RPMs of updates for Red Hat Linux? Trying to get a later version of the unixODBC RPM that is in Centos 5, I read in some posting that unixODBC.x86_64 2.2.12-1.el5s2 was in the testing repo but I was unable to locate it, currently it appears that we are runningunixODBC-2.2.11-7.1. I have looked in the Centos 5 Testing repo but do not see the 2.2.12 version....anyone have any pointers to move me along, thanks.

Rebuilding RHEL from source?
Hello, Does anyone have instructions on how to go through the entire process from downloading source RPM's from RedHat's servers through to building the entire distribution? I've searched through the web and CentOS' own web sites and couldn't find such instructions. Is it just a matter of downloading them from

Error resolving dependencies when installing wine
I downloaded the Wine binary package from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5Server/x86_64/, which according to wine documentation is compatible version to be installed in CentOS 5 server distro. I downloaded all the files with version number 1.0.1-1 and stored it in a folder named WineHQ in desktop. However, when I try to run wine-1.0.1-1.el5.i386.rpm using software installer, i'm

Installing Samba on RedHat Linux 5.3
Glad to hear that you succeeded in getting Samba installed. Next steps to getting it to work are: 1) edit your /etc/samba/smb.conf file to fit the needs of your network. 2) use "testparm" (without the quotes) to verify that your smb.conf file is correct. 3) start your samba services with: service smb start service winbind start (if you need winbind) 4) connect to a samba share with

kernels and irc
I was in the #centos-social channel and simply stated that I noticed CentOS 3-4 were getting a lot of updates. I also stated that the CentOS 5 was one kernel behind, as in RHEL it is at -53, the gentlemen then told me that I was wrong and it was at -21. I then asked if there was a way to get a progress report somehow on 5.2, and that 5.2 has already upgraded that kernel. The result was that I was

Building tomcat6, SRPM jakarta-commons-dbcp-1.2.1-7jpp.ep1.2.ep5.el5.src.rpm fails to build
Hello all I'm trying to build tomcat6 from the SRPMs provided at [1], but I appear to have hit a wall. One of the dependencies of tomcat6-6.0.18-8.18.1.noarch [2] is jakarta-commons-dbcp-tomcat5 (provided by jakarta-commons-dbcp [3]). (I don't see why it's requiring tomcat5 components, maybe that's my problem). When I try to build jakarta-commons-dbcp, compilation fails: BEGIN
