ldapsam:editposix with inetOrgPerson objectClass for users
Hello list, have a samba 3.4.3 as domain controller with openldap as backend, using ldapsam:trusted = Yes and ldapsam:editposix = Yes and everything works like a charm. Now i would like to use this ldap for storing more information about my users; full name, phone, address and maybe even a picture. InetOrgPerson is the objectClass i would like to use since it's standard and has all i need and

[OT] Adding InetOrgPerson schema when using ldapsam:editposix module
Hi, I admit that this is OT, at least slightly. While I've successfully used the ldapsam:editposix module in conjunction with the "net sam" and "net rpc" toolchain, which provides me with both the POSIX and the Samba account info for each account stored centrally in an LDAP DIT, I would like to have the info related to an InetOrgPerson as well. What's the easiest

inetOrgPerson vs. sambaSidEntry for Computer accounts in LDAP
I am looking at my computer accounts that were created using smbldap-useradd.pl -w workstationname. And I see the following objectClasses: top inetOrgPerson posixAccount sambaSamAccount I understand I need one structural objectClass, but don't understand why inetOrgPerson is being used. Couldn't I use sambaSidEntry instead? sambaSidEntry is structural, and only requires sambaSID.

Samba 3.2.4 not locking accounts?
Hello guys! I'm using samba 3.2.4 (binaries from samba.org) on SLES9+sp3. I am building a PDC with LDAP support (i am attaching my config files), I'm also using ldapsam:trusted and ldapsam:editposix. Although I am setting the account lock after 3 failed tries in usrmgr, and verified that the parameters are actually set in the LDAP, no locking occurs. I started thinking that it was my

In this vm ldapsam:editposix. OK. I have just created a posix-only user in openldap. And then tried smbpasswd -a test01.

Ldapsam Editposix & idmap help required
Hi, I am more or less following this tutorial Ldapsam Editposix = http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix but can't quite get my domain to work. I think the issue is with the idmap part of the smb.conf but can't quite figure out what's wrong with it or what the correct format should be. My SMB.CONF file.... #interfaces = lo0 em0 127.0.0.1 bind interfaces only = no

Samba Schema Error? Setting up PDC with LDAP
I have samba 3.0.10 and OpenLDAP(slapd) 2.2.13 on a redhat enterprise 4 machine. I have modified the slapd.conf file according to the official Smaba3 by example book. I have copied samba.schema from the samba directory /usr/share/doc/samba-3.0.10/LDAP/ to /etc/openldap/schema and included it in the slapd.conf file: include /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema include

confusion about using samba as NT4 PDC with ldapsam backend
Hello, I want to use samba v3.3.x to implement an NT4/Win2k style domain: a samba PDC and a samba BDC, using ldapsam for the 'passdb backend'. I plan to use RedHat Directory Server v8.2 as the ldap server. I'm trying to sort out how user/group management and nss will work. I'm confused about how/when the samba-supplied ldap schema is used (I mean the schema that's in the

XP Client can't log on PDC/LDAP configuration
Hello, I have Samba 3.0.4, OpenLDAP 2.0.27 (whatever comes with RH 9.0) configured as a PDC with LDAP as the password database. I can log on to the PDC box, ldap seems to be working fine with PAM. Password changes take affect etc. I can get passthru security working fine. I log into windows xp machine, browse home/profile shares, no problem. But I can't log on from the client xp machine

Failure joining to Samba 3.4.5 Domain
Hello, I am attempting to join a Windows 7 computer to a Samba 3.4.5 I setup. When I attempt to join the domain the Windows 7 computer says: "A device attached to this system is not functioning." There are no obvious errors in the system logs on the Windows 7 machine or the samba PDC. I can browse/map a drive to the PDC and access the files. Does anyone know what is going on? *

Support for Linux Authentication with Samba4's Internal LDAP Server
Hello, This topic has been touched on in the past, but I'd like to ask for additional clarification on the structure of the internal LDAP server that Samba4 provides. I currently am using OpenLDAP for authenticating Linux servers and a number of web-based services. I also use Samba 3 for presenting shares to Windows users, but it maintains a separate password database. I would like to

ldap group authentication refresh
Hi, I have succesfully setup a Samba server with OpenLDAP authentication. I also managed to authenticate against groups in my LDAP tree, so far so good. The only problem is that whenever I add or remove an entry from the LDAP group, samba doesn't see that immediately. When I restart the samba daemon, it does pick up the change in the LDAP group. Can anybody tell me how I can refresh the
