Howto force directoy and file rights on version 4
Hi list!
I have problems with the enforcement of rights with the installed
version 4.1.6-Ubuntu (default of Ubuntu 14.04 Server)
I just want a setting which enforces 0777 access rights on any direcory
or file that is written/changed by anyone.
My smb.conf looks like this:

netbios name = MYSERVER
workgroup = WGP
local master = yes
domain master= yes

Exclude directoy
Hi!
Just a stupid question:
If I want to exclude all directories in different locations named for example
"binary" but not files with name "binary", which exclude command I have to use?
--exclude *binary*
...I thougt that this is the right one...but unfortunately it excludes also
files which contains the "binary" name!?
kind regards

Problems Authetincating users by group in Active Directoy
Hi,
I got a Samba box that is part of an Active Directory. It is working
with the most basic functions, but I want to start customizing the
security a little bit more. For that I want to grant access to
different shares by group using "valid users = @AD+group" in the
smb.conf, but hasn't worked.
I increased the verbosity of the log files and this has caught my attention:

How to create a directoy with R
Hello, I am trying to create directories with R. I would like R to
create directories because it is platform independent. I tried using
file() and searching in "R Data Import/Export" but I did not succeed.
I think it must be some function since exists the unlink to remove
directories (and files).

3.6.0 winbind issues
Testing 3.6.0 on a member server of a 3.5.8 domain shows some strange problems.
With the standard:
idmap config * : backend = tdb
no results are returned by getent, and wbinfo does not always
work, also no winbind_idmap.tdb file is ever created.
by changing to:
idmap config * : backend = rid
or
idmap config * : backend = hash
results are obtained but are the same regardless of

wbinfo -i WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND on samba 4.2.2
Hi,
We are planning an update from Samba 3.x to 4.2.2 and installed Samba
4.2.2 on a test VM (samba-test).
samba-test should be a basic AD member like in this example: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server#Set_up_a_basic_Member_Server_smb.conf
With both our old config and a new one created analog to

Oeps, you correct. Typo there..
And you only might need this when you use nfs.
But i dont know if he uses that.
# wbinfo --all-domains
Yes, the COMPUTERNAME only shows on the member servers.

Winbind occasionally forgets some users (failed to call wbcGetpwnam: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND)
I've been googling, but can't seem to find an answer to this one.
We have a Windows network with ~25 sites. Each site has a local Windows
DC. Each site has a Debian 8.5 box running Samba 4.2.10-Debian.
We decided to test moving shares from the Windows Server to the local
Debian machine. (zfs snapshot is *really* handy when someone decides to
open cryptolocker).
