Getent passwd and getent group fail / Samba 3.5.2
Hi all, I just stepped over a problem where I can't add a local user to an AD group. Running getent passwd and getent group doesn't display the AD users. Wbinfo -g and -u work fine. Here is my smb.conf: [global] netbios name = sles11test1 realm = SOMEDOMAIN.NET workgroup = SOMEDOMAIN security = ADS encrypt passwords = yes password server =

getent passwd/getent passwd username inconsistencies
I've came across what appears to be a bug, but I wanted to get some feedback on the list before reporting it to make sure I'm not doing something stupid. I'm using 3.2.7. I see that when I do "getent passwd", I get an entry like this: testuser:*:1000:20:Test User:/home/poo/testuser:/bin/bash But when I do "getent passwd testuser", I get this:

"getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD. Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose. "getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't. "wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get users: # wbinfo -u

Symlink Issue
I've recently upgraded a server and am having an issue with symlinks that used to work but are now broken. The links are on one of the filesystems shared by Samba, but point to directories on an NFS-mounted volume. The permissions and export on the NFS volume are such that both root and normal users on this Samba server can access the contents correctly. However, when I try to follow the

winbind and authentication with local accounts
Hi everyone, I have a problem with my samba and winbind configuration: before I switched the config (from local user authentication to AD authentication using winbind) my users were able to authenticate for example as ?peter?. Now, after switching, they are forced to use SAMBASERVERNAME\peter. If they use only ?peter? winbind tries to authenticate them against the AD which fails. Is there a way

Winbind 3.5.2 caching issues under SLES11???
Hi, I don't know if this is a problem of SLES11 or winbind itself. I recently installed the lastest samba winbind 3..5.2 on a SLES9 box and a SLES11 box. If I remove a user from a group in Active Directory the change is visible immediately on the SLES9 box but not on the SLES11 box. Both are running exactly the same version of winbind: gedaiv64:~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release SUSE Linux

Ask for backport reflink feature of the ocfs2 to the sles11
Hellow, everyone I'm from HuaWei, China. We are looking for the candidate of virtualization platform among several vendors. Learned from Oracle people, the latest version of ocfs2 has integrated reflink feature which was commited to the the linux 2.6.32 kernel. But as we know, the sles11 integrated the linux 2.6.27 kernle, so the relink feature is not avaiable on the sles11 platform. We

PDC/BDC Problem
Hi all, I'm rather new to samba and trying to deploy a PDC/BDC Setup for our company. Got some books and the manpages here to help me :) The config-files are attached at the end of this mail. Used Samba is 3.2.7-11.6 on a SLES11 system. The PDC is running as ROLE_DOMAIN_PDC says testparm, the BDC as ROLE_DOMAIN_BDC. Both DCs use a LDAP (OpenLDAP 2.4.12-7) for user authentication. The LDAP

SLES10SP2 (xen 3.2.x) vs SLES11 (xen 3.4.x)
I built a couple new servers on SLES11 because I needed to use USB. Since SLES11 has xen 3.4 packages that seemed like the way to go. I''m questioning the stability of the two new servers compared to my SLES10SP2 servers. I''m also questioning the performance of Windows domUs. On Thanksgiving day one of my SLES11 servers running 7-8 domUs crashed and restarted three times. Being

Winbind - wbinfo -u works, getent passwd only gives local users
I only have limited Samba experience, and expect this is a silly mistake, but have been unable to find a solution I have installed Samba and Winbind on my desktop Linux (Debian) machine (SPARKSTONELX), aiming to unify logins with other windows machines accessing the PDC, again samba/Debian, with tdbsam password backend. All is well, joining the domain, and getting account details using wbinfo -u,

Problem with Winbind/Kerberos authentication against AD 2003R2 RFC2307
Samba Team, I have posted this issue before but it seems to have gotten "lost in the storm." I have several Linux servers set up to authenticate users using AD credentials. The one server that actually works right is running Samba 3.2.7. The presence of RFC2307 attributes in the user object, in conjunction with a UID in the range set in smb.conf determines whether the user enumerates,

Re: Winbind ldap samba 3 BDC getent passwd answer don't retrieve domain users, can't login on the domain with users that are not on /ect/passwd
I have seen the same thing in my two installation of beta2 and rc4. Some how, I forgot what I have played around in beta2 and was later been able to do a 'getent passwd DOMAIN\\username' but can't repeat that again. in my latest installation of RC4. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the timing of locating the correct domain controller to logon. As I am experiencing very long
